true, but when it comes to this firmware patching im a noob as well, and i couldnt tell you how to do anything with this hack so im trying to soak in information as well as everyone else who wants to do this. . .im still trying to figure out if i need to plug the sata connected to my 360 into the input on my PC DVD DRIVE and from there im not that far off. . .

im not clogging this thread im just saying take it easy, im sorry innocent questions from innocent people upset you and yeah i can see where your coming from just dont respond to anything you dont want to have to answer let someone else deal with it. . .i need help as well but im asking questions that should be common sense to me but i dont understand and no one has clearly stated a step by step what to do with these patches (well not at least for us people that dont understand every bit of technical mumbo jumbo) not all guides and tutorials are easy to follow. . .

so since the hack can run in windows do that mean that a pcmcia sata cardbus card would work on a laptop.

Any of you guys having good/bad luck with specific media? I used a known good image that worked on a Samsung, burned it the same way, same speed, and it's not booting on my Hitachi. I'm using Verbatim DVD+R DL. I've tried half a dozen times, tells me the disc is unreadable every time.

I'm going to try a different image and burning at the slowest speed and see what happens.

flashing your drive
---------------------------

Plug SATA cable from DVD drive to PC. Power cable drive still connected to Xbox 360
Ensure Hitachi drive is in mode b either by two wire trick or slax linux boot cd
Go to Windows
Run xtreme.bat batch file from a dos prompt specifing drive letter eg "xtreme.bat g"
All done!
Run restore.bat to revert to original firmware eg "restore.bat g"

****xtreme.bat automatically makes a backup of your dvd drive firmware called orig.bin.***

slax cd doesnt even pick up my hitachi but my bios does....weird..

my motherboard detects the hitachi drive in bios also, to get slax to detect it and for it to show up in windows after the reset i had to delay switching on the 360 power till just before the autorun of the slax disc or after the post screens on your pc rather than having the 360 drive on whilst pc is turned on, cos that would just lockup my pc after bios detected the drive
