Thanks Moda!!! my 360 was bone stock and stopped reading all games and movies.(factory disks) It was out of warranty and I did not want to get R@ped by ms, so I broke the seal and found that my factory pot was set at 5.35k adjusted it to 4.13k needless to say it reads again and runs awesome!!!!! Saved me lots of $$$$ now since the seals broke maybe i will do some case mods  muhaha.gif   Thanks Again!!!!

Is there any pot calibration guide for hitachi and benq drives...

I just did a Hitachi59 tonight the Hitachi had the same laser that the last 3 Samsungs I tweaked had. So for Hitachi the pot calibration guide is the same as this one.

Mine was a Hitachi. This should work with most any drive. All I really needed was the value not to set the pot under.

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/grr.gif) @fitsman & other people who paid some one to mod there box,  If you aren’t skilled enough to pull a disk drive apart and put it back together without a tutorial telling you to be careful of the cables, you shouldn’t attempt to open your Xbox b/c you are not mechanically inclined enough.  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/grr.gif)

My friend bought a laser from divineo and i checked the pot and it was 1.68 stock !!!!  ohmy.gif  .... i can't do anything with such a low value right? Or can i achieve good result raising the values a little bit. The drive isnt reading well with 1.68 stock.

Before I start bitching, thanks very much for the tutorial, Moda. OK, I was getting "to play this disc, put it in an xbox 360 console" After adjusting the pot I get "open tray"or in other words, nothing. I can't seem to get it back to playing the disk, even though I wrote down the original value (3.8). Any advice? Also, since my 360 played DVDs fine, was there any reason to adjust the pot? Should I have just gotten the firmware update?

Man, I hope I didn't accidentally break something. These fat fucking fingers....

Oh yeah, its a non-flashed Hitachi 3120L

So I kept getting Unplayable disc on any burns yet it would read retail games fine (Hitachi 47DH drive / Oct 2005 360), But yesterday I was able to get it reading burns again after adjusting the laser from 4.2 to 3.2.  pop.gif

Thanks for the tutorial!

I have a TS drive and with the original laser I pot tweaked it and no setting would work.  I bought a laser from ebay and I pot tweaked that one (I tried from 4.2kohms all the way down to 2.8kohms) and that didnt work either.

My laser broke (DVD Laser not working) so i got a RROD xbox and took it out of that until i get my new one off ebay. Was getting read errors everytime i tryed to go online with COD:WaW reduced the POT from 3.65 to 3.33 and so far working alot better!

Great tutorial!

Hi thx moda great tutorial. I done this to an old pc dvd drive a long time ago when it started not reading certain dvds but the dvds would work on another dvd drive but without an mutimeter jus try and hope with the pot tweak with sucess laugh.gif , So i thought i'd giv me xbox360 ago but this time with a multimeter cool.gif
heres my drive: patched with latest firmware
model ts-h943
f/w = ms28
oct 2006
original pot value was 4.64 (which was a pain to boot backups but originals were ok but sometimes crashed and thats with new 1's)
the backups i would have to set them a certain position to boot taking 10-30mins a time then i'd get random crash in middle of game mad.gif
thats with my laptop and external slim lg gp08nu10 je01 dvd burner, media verbatim 8x dvd+r dl made in singapore(any1 know an upgraded firmware or modded 1 for this burner been lookin with no joy unsure.gif ) usin imgburn at 2.4x as i tried 1x but still burnt in 2.4x?
i hav also tried backups from some shoppin malls in bkk some were burnt and others pressed different dye's pressed were silver they loaded up better but still random crash or no boot after couple months of use uhh.gif
So anyway i tested dvd pot at:
4.00 bootin better without positionin my own backups but still no load.
3.80 som gettin in game but crashing.
3.20 most games booted from cold but once in game crash u hav a dirty disk.
3.00 most games booted with no problem but som were still same as 3.20
2.80 must be the sweet spot all games run like new originals pop.gif

1 more thing  accidently tweaked the cd pot jester.gif it read 2.80 but i set it back to wot looks like the original position i hope jester.gif  but now reads 3.00, all cd's workin fine though biggrin.gif
cheers

Ok I need help, I have a Benq drive and Moda's tutorial says that it doesnt matter when using the multimeter which prong goes where I have found that it does If i use one configuration black on one red on the other i get one Pot reading and if i do vice versa i get another pot reading. The one reading is around 2.9 and im still getting dirty disk errors, ive tried around 5 configs with no luck. Im mainly having problems with oblivion and guitar hero world tour ive tried different burns even at slower speed im using a pioneer 112d and verbatims with img burn at 2.4x. I never used to have any problem until latley. Ive even tried cleaning the lens with a qtip and alcohol but nothing. Itll get better in some instances and some times it will take a few times before the game will even boot. I ordered a new laser today but I have never soldered anything before Please help

swapped in HLG laser unit reads 4.15kohms (reads all brands of media i have thrown at it so far)

I am currently writting using an LG DL Writter and using verbatim discs and I am getting some read errors and skipping during gameplay(rock band 2:P)

This sounds like it will help and I am wondering if you could make a video tut or something showing how to swap the lasers, and possible some links to where i can get the lasers..?
