Burn Slower (most likly ss read errors), when you say "only work once in awhile" what do you mean do you get a error?, what error?, wasent this topic alreddy posted?

Tried it again and it wouldnt boot in mine.  Still boots in my friends though.

Backups are only running once in a while in my 360.   the 20-30 minute thing isnt even working for me.

I have the same problem.  I burned 2 backups and they both say reading for about 20-30 secs, and then it says "Open Tray".  Orignals boot flawless every time.  I am using Memorex +R DL @ 2.4x (RITEK-D01-01) and my booktype is set to DVD-ROM on a NEC 3540A w/ 1.9w.

same problem here, using datasafe media DVD+R DL (ADVDInfo: CMC MAG D01) ive burnt two games now at 2.4x, both show booktype as being set to DVD-ROM (in dvdinfo pro) but the xbox jus spins the disc up and does nothing at all. just says OPEN DRIVE. it thinks there is no media inside the drive or something?

anyone found a solution to this, im going to buy some verbatim DVD+R DL and see what the difference is, maybe it is the media.

are you talking about the DVD LASER POT, what do you mean by 3,0? what was the original reading in OHMS and whats the new reading after you recalibrated the laser to read the memorex dvd+r dl?

ive done many different laser calibrations so i think it might be worthwhile pinning a xbox 360 dvd pot topic if everything works out, ill open up my drive and do some testing later to determine if it really is the pot that needs recalibrating.

the dvd pot calibration is very easy, all you need is a very small screw driver (the micro electronic ones)

it usually takes about 5 minutes to do, im currently making a tut (taking pics etc right now) so if anyones interested just post here and if it gets busy ill upload it all ASAP.

Once you find the potentiometer for the 360 drive, the instructions will basically be the same as any pot calibration. Set your multimeter to ohms and put the probes on two contacts where the pot attaches to the board. Record your original measurement. Bring the resistance down a little at a time until it works!

8x burns on Verbaitim DL+R's have been working with no problems for me at all.

only one coaster cause my computer crashed during a burn.

It does seem like it's the dvd drive an not the media being used.. I've tried 3 different brands and getting the same results.. Now if I turned off my console for about 30 minutes an turned it back on again it will boot the games for a while then it will stop booting them. I know it's not a over heating problem because I added 2 heat sinking fans on the cpu heat sink. Now it's warm to the touch and not hot like it was before the modification..  Again I don't think it's the media but the dvd drive acting up. The Verbatim for me, boots better then the other brands!

Yeap!  That did it, problem solved.. I set my DVD pot to 3.5k, and now it reads all brands.. I wish I would have checked this site before I went out and wasted $150.00 bucks on different DVD brands.. Anyway thanks for the tut.
