You need to use flashsec that matches your ROM version.

Trying To Dump My Hitachi Key. Little Help?

I was able to dump my firmware today finally after trying and trying to get my drive detected in windows.

I used two small wires stuck in pin 0 and pin 9.  If you look at kev.nu you can see the pinout.  I basically just cut to small gauge wires off of a old xecuter I had laying around and slid them into the connector in the appropiate places.  I touched the wires together then powered on xbox the tray ejected, I pulled wires apart and then powered the pc.  BLAM  detected.  I heard this is somewhat risky but it worked on the first try for me.

If need be I will show pictures of how I did it.   All kinds of useful info on getting drive connect in windows is found on xbh.   Also I think gee bee added this to his tutorial which is floating around in this forum somewhere.

I can't figure plscsi out. Plscsi -w isn't working for me....and I don't know what to set to.

Slax into Modeb isn't making windows see my drive either. What now? Anybody else get their hitachi dumped.....through software? I think I'm stuck now.....please help.

I ended up using a different computer in my house, because I got anxious. This mobo was based on the Nforce 3. It worked fine with the Slax disc, and it showed up right away in windows. I used memdump to extract the key just fine.

However, for our other Nforce4 friends (many of us), could we try work on PLSCSCI for an alternate method? Anybody else with an Nforce4 out there that has successfully got the Hitachi detected in windows. This thread is in relation to the HITACHI.

Thx

Topho: I have the nf4 chipset and native s-ata controllers.

Been trying for some time to get my drive noticed in windows, here are my results:

For getting drive into mode_b i ground pin9 of the dvd-power port, windows tries booting up but hangs at the WinXP logo, the status bar go`s and go`s but it wont go into windows :/
Ive tried all s-ata ports etc, and tried probotus live-cd,for mode_b, but that didnt work either.
Tried fooling windows by powering up the 360 in mode_b while in windows and doing a "scan for new hardware" but it just hanged on the scanning for new hardware part, and nothing happend.
So either im buying a new s-ata controller or taking my 360 to a friends house wink.gif

I know my SATA controller is working I am able to flash samsung drives But the hitachi LG is being a pain I cannot also get the original firmware off the drive mtkflash hangs after I choose the IDE cannel and hit enter. I used the linux disk acording to directions with no luck. Windows will not see the drive also but when the drive is unplugged XP detects it and shows a warning message. I also noted the drive needs to be ejected on bootup other wise the boot disk will never load.

NewAgePSX: What chipset do you have? Cause if its working with samsung drive, that doesnt mean it works with hitachi drive.

This is true what do you think is the cause? VIA chip set modified mtkflash.exe The modified mtkflash works with samsung drives why not hitachi? Should I do a hot swap? I just want to dump the contents thats it.

I managed to dump the original firmware from my Hitachi using memdump. Is it possible to flash the modified firmware to Hitachi using memdump (when there is a firmware for hitachi)? Or is memdump only for "dumping"?  unsure.gif

if you don't mind, what is the exact command line you typed in cmd?  I tried several, and either got "access is denied", "fopen failed", or "invalid directory".

memdump does what it says on the tin. DUmps only. Forget flashing the firmware on the hitachi at the moment. Its a bitch and will brick your box if you dont pay attention.
