Complete Firmware Tutorial V40: Samsung And Hitach
« Reply #166 on: January 09, 2007, 02:13:00 PM »

Hey guys I'm really hoping someone can help me with this smile.gif.  I have using v41 of this guide and can't get windows to see my 360 DVD drive at all grr.gif . I know the sata controller works as I can use it to connect a hdd to my PC and it works.  The 360 DVD is in debug mode as the read light is on, on the chip and the eject button is up.  Windows doesn't show anything in disk management/my computer.  I also upgraded my MB BIOS and SATA Drivers to the latest and tried both SATA ports.

Here are my Hardware specs:

Hitachi Drive v47
Pc motherboard: abit AV8 with SATA chip Via VT8237
Xecuter Connectivty Kit

Any help you can give would be greatly appreicated.  Thanks in advance biggrin.gif

There do not seem to be any warnings like the one above in the tutorial, is this "earthing" no longer deemed necessary?

Oh, no.  It's VERY necessary.  Ask my first 360's DVD Drive.

Put a wire strap from the body of the PC to the 360 body, so that the voltages are more stable.
I think thats what they're talking about !!!!

I wonder if it's enough if the computer chassi and the 360 touches each other? I'm going to flash my 360 tomorrow, and a mistake would be very verry unwelcome.

One more update.  I found that in windows is not starting the sata controller.  it gives and "error 10 can't start"

I tried what I found here:

Still not working.  Does anyone have any other ideas? ph34r.gif

OK I got it  tongue.gif .  After much more searching/reading some people had similar issue with slax method.  They mentioned uninstall sata driver from device mgr and then reboot and while windows was loading reconnect power to the drive and that worked great.  My drive showed up cool.gif . I patch the firmware with "Maximus-Garyopa_XTRM-HITACHI_v2_3_Stealth_Rev2" and did the stealth part with "Hitachi_StealtMaker1_3"

I do have another question though.   when I try to use getss.exe I get the following:

C:\360hck>getss X SS.bin
spectrum4eva SS dumper for firmware f900
error (SENSE KEY=00/ASC=00/ASCQ=00)

I'm so nearly there so any help with this last bit would be greatly appreciated biggrin.gif

Yikes, ok im a pretty advanced pc user, but as for flashing consoles im new.

I was gonna attempt it using your guide but after reading problems and the f*ckups people have done im having second thoughts!

Its the hitachi drive i have from what ive seen in your images and im just trying to work out the safest way of doing it. What are the chances of me making a nice brick out of my xbox?

I know people who do this locally but charge £80 to flash the Hitachi drive!! call me cheap but i dont fancey forking out £80 if i can do this myself.

Anyone recommend a certain way of doing it or shall i just dive into the guide and go for it? Cheers for the time people

Is there a fix for the XBOX 360 Update so you can play the Backup XBOX games on the XBOX 360 in the Samsung drive?

Where you stated make an SS with a Hitachi drive. How do you do that? I have a 360 w/ Hitachi v59 and I already flashed it using your tutorial and I can't understand how to get the ss.bin or how to create it. Where do I right click and open a command, what folder do I click to find the SS for the original 360 game that is now in my hitachi drive that is flashed?

My BIOS detected my hitachi, the slax cd detected it but Windows couldn't find it.  To get Windows to detect it, I had to go to device manager, right click on my other cd/dvd drives and uninstall their driver (choosing disable wasn't enough).  Then I refreshed device manager and it found my hitachi 47D.

I'm successfully flashed my new and unknown firmware version Sammy ms28 drive, the ICH5 chipset and mtkflash. Enable800.iso disc loaded, run mtkflash, and wait....nothing. Reboot x360, pressed escape button, the program interrupted. Re-run mtkflash, and yes...it work. Dumped the original alien firmware. And i flashed this method, my samsung ms25 firmware this ms28. Worked correctly. Motherboard: EPOX 4PCA2I s478 ICH5 motherboard. ICH5 chipset, I875 P mobo.
Is this correct way?

Sorry, i'm not good speaking english, i'm Hungarian x360 gamer.

I read this tutorial but it doesn't make one thing clear. If my dvd-drive has already been flashed, do I only need the SS file patch to the ISO or do I need the SS, PFI, DMI, and steath??

Please e-mail me ASAP at [email protected]
Thanks!!
