Can you use a SS.BIN from a samsung drive to burn our backups for the hitachi-lg drive ? (as long as the region of the SS.BIN is the same the users region, one for a PAL xbox and a NTSC xbox)

Or is there no difference in PAL SS.BIN and NTSC SS.BIN files ? (Security Sectors)

Or how do you extract the secuirty sectors from your hitachi drive ?

Thanks!

is a pioneer a09 a good burner in combination with verbatim 2.4x dl ? I've read somewhere they auto terminate the discs as DVD-ROM, is this true ? (also with clone cd ?)

They are different. You must the the SS.bin for your region. Also be advised that for PAL releases there are multiple SS.bin's so just because you have a PAL release does not mean that an PAL SS.bin will work.

common grounding by puting a wire to both cases? Oh come on, just plug them into the same power strip...

Need some help on a quick question

I Have successfully extracted the firmware on both the Hitachi Drive and the Samsung Drive

I have flashed these as well... no issues

I do understand that the samsung is need to read and mkae the SS.bin

Flashed the samsung with the firmware that allows it be viewed in windows... again no issue

Made the SS.bin... no issues

Unlocked drive

Open IsoBuster

Now is this normal from this point and on...

In isobuster I can only view

from the root of disc
VIDEO_TS
AUDIO_TS

But it does say 7.GB is this normal or should i see data too?

Next question:
I hit extract to - from but here the part that confuses me i dont udnerstand how this happens after i can do the begin of all this with no flaws

it only allows me to save it as *.tao, Why?

so what i did any way was extract , fill errors with zeros.

at the end it says it had ## of errors woudl you liek to delete, i said no. is this question normal as well

now after that i rename to game.iso i check size its smaller then the disc, because of errors filled with zero?normal?

then i merge and make the isobster method compile the game.

i am at work and bruned it before i left and could not wait... when i get homi will try to boot it but

before i get back i woudl like someone to please answer me these below as i searched and goggled and no else has a thread on this and the guide dosent cover this...

1. Is it ok i see save as *.tao only?
2. If so was it ok i renamed to *.iso to get around it?
3. when in isobuster is it normal to see just the VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS and no data?
4. when extracting and ignoring errors is it normal to ask to delete the image at the end?

cause if my back up does NOT work it can only be from the isobuster method and steps after ...

this *.tao thing really messed me up and if my backup dosent work i woudl look at this first as i had no issues the whole time with read and write to both drive and would just like to finish this up as soon as i get back....

Im not sure i get this.
Since i dont have a floppy drive, just a cd and 9in1 memory card slots i have to use a cd.
What i dont get is, when you backup, you get a ORIG.BIN on the floppy, as the guide says. But if i boot with a cd.. where does this file go?

Is it worth giving it a try with my mp3 player, as usb stick? On the other hand i dont think it will be able to boot from my usb drive. Think my bios only allows cdrom or harddrive.

So, what do you think?

And also, please read my other thread, im begging for answers!

Has anyone been successful in getting the Security Sector files working for the Hitachi drives? Extracting the SS files is correct, but trimming it is not. In the guide it shows you how to trim up to the begining of the file, but the rest of the method is incorrect. All is needed is the correct offsets for the rest of the file to trim down which is broken up throughout the file. I just wanted to know if anyone has done this yet, so I won't waste my time trying. huh.gif

Ok, I tried to see if the extracted SS files for the Hitachi drives are valid, and they're not. sad.gif  I did a comparisons between a working SS file extracted with the Samsung drive and the Hitachi drive. (Same game for both) The SS extracted with the Hitachi drive is missing data that is included with the Samsung drives. So trimming down the SS files extracted with the Hitachi drives will not work, or come out correctley.. mad.gif  I guess we'll have to wait until it's possible to send correct commands to the Hitachi drive for dumping the SS files via DVDinfo..
