Editing Mtkflash To Work With Your Sata Chipset

I thought I would try to help you out getting the numbers, but I can't find any rows with a 7 byte difference in the previous posts, so sorry I dont know what to do. Either you have more info that you haven't posted here or your sata controllers are special and perhaps not supported.

hi knasen,

thanks for the reply..

hm.. the controller is a vt6421 as you can read in the list above,
and i dont know what other infos you need. so many people have also this chipset on a sata card and everthing goes right.. but for me it does not work... i made a right boot disk with bootmaker. bootmaker includes automaticly the values from the chipset... but the chipset isnt there after samread starts...

I have been reading tutorials all night and since the xtreme bootmaker wont detect my drive and neither will MTKflash, I need to hex edit it.

The only problem is that I dont have more than one line on my SATA controller. This is my output.

Editing Mtkflash To Work With Your Sata Chipset
« Reply #533 on: February 24, 2007, 07:06:00 AM »

Hey Grim, et al... I sure could use a second opinion on what's ailing me.  Been at this for two days (read hundreds of posts)... these ms28's are killing me.

I've installed a via vt6421 pci card into my pc, and added the latest drivers from viaarena.  I have the ms28 setup as expected... power from the console, and long sata cable to pci card.

I've tinkered with xtremebootmaker (both 0.3.6 and 0.5.3), but cannot get a working boot disc.  I can boot to the menu and launch mtkflash (or xread in 0.5.3), and I even get the option of: 2. xtreme, but inevitably stall at the dreaded: "port A400 master/secondary a0" point.

Please peruse my numbers in xtremebootmaker and see if you can find my error.

From msinfo_dump:

[SCSI]

Item   Value
Name   VIA VT6421 RAID Controller
Manufacturer   VIA Technologies, Inc.
Status   OK
PNP Device ID   PCI\VEN_1106&DEV_3249&SUBSYS_32491106&REV_50\3&61AAA01&0&58
I/O Port   0x0000A400-0x0000A40F
I/O Port   0x0000A800-0x0000A80F
I/O Port   0x0000AC00-0x0000AC0F
I/O Port   0x0000B000-0x0000B00F
I/O Port   0x0000B400-0x0000B41F
I/O Port   0x0000B800-0x0000B8FF
IRQ Channel   IRQ 11
Driver   c:\windows\system32\drivers\viamraid.sys (5.1.2600.540, 100.50 KB (102,912 bytes), 2/23/2007 3:53 PM)

Xtremebootmaker provides the obvious 11063249 for device ID, and A400AC00 for port.  Like I mentioned, this allows 2. Xtreme to show up in the launch list, but no further.

I note the difference of 16 in port ranges, but do not fully understand the implications.  I also tried all manner of combinations of all drives plugged in... no drives plugged in... just a dvd drive.

I would appreciate (you have no idea) any thoughts on the port deal.
Mike
