Hi folks, hope someone can help me out with my setup.
I've used the xtreme boot maker (following Textbooks tut to the letter) to flash my bios but I get stuck when I boot from my USB key, run samread... and then select the device from the list. The app just hangs and my only option is to press escape and halt the process.
I have tried cd/hard disk combo using ntfsdos to see if that makes any difference in case my usb key was failing to write, but after further research in the forums I reckon the problem stems from the fact that my dvd-drive cannot read. (mtkflash does offer me two options to choose from number 1 is 'EXTREME' and number 2 is 'Si3114' I have tried both and got the same result for each.)
As well as using the samread batch file, I have also run the mtkflash r /m /sata orig.bin command manually which yields no better result.
My setup is a Asus K8N-E Deluxe with the Si3114 (SoftRaid5) chipset onboard.
I am using the master port on the primary channel of the onboard sata.
I have the Samsung M25 dvd drive.
My info from msinfo32 is:

So I think to edit the hex of mtkflash.exe manually I would need to enter in 9501 1431 and 00C4 00BC (Is that correct?)
It's been ages since I've done any hex editing and I am a little unsure that I am selecting the appropriate characters. If I select where is says 'Si3114' on the right hand side in Hex Workshop the actual hex selection in the main screen is not four sets of four digits but it actually selects: '53 6933 3131 34' (with those exact spacings/groupings). What/how exactly should I be selecting to ensure I get it right?
I understand from reading through a lot of this thread already that the chipset entries are separated by '0000' (Is that right or have I misunderstood?) but there are some instances where sequence in the hex has '0000 0000' so I cannot tell from which entry I should start my selection.
Anyone else managed to get this combination of pc mobo and 360 dvd to work?
Any pointers much appreciated. Cheers.
