Thanks for the quick response and help Grim.  I'll give it a shot later on tonight and report back.  I'm thinking the chipset should work since it's a supported VIA but who knows.  When you mention options what options do you mean.  Usually as soon as I type:

mtkflash r /m orig.bin

It automatically goes to attempt to download the firmware and crashes with the Port: 9800 text.  Thanks Grim.

are you sure you have MTKFlash.typ in the same dir (or on floppy/cd/thumb drive) as MTKFlash and named the same (ie MTKFlash1.exe, MTKFlash1.typ)

Thanks for the help Grim. So to clarify you recommend going through the different chipsets which have an ending of F001 7001 and 3201 7001 in MTKFlash and edit the PNP IDs to my 0611 4932 ID? Thanks Grim.

i aligned it alittle bit better and it looks like theres only one
CODE
F001 7001

sorry for the mix up

I do have the MTKFLash.typ in the same directory as the floppy.  The only time I've received options is if I leave my IDE ports enabled and then I'll get 3 options.

1. IDE Primary
2. IDE Secondary
3. Samsung Drive

When I disable the IDE drives I believe MTKFlash automatically selects the Samsung drive since it's the only option available.  Thanks Grim.

just to make sure your booting the 360 and dos separately then hooking the 360 up and executing MTKFlash?,
have you tried /sata?, Have you tried Hotswaping?,have you tried leaving just one DVD ROM drive connected to the ide Chain?

I keep getting the same result or lack of result...
it gives me an options of ich6 primary or icha6 secondary and no matter which i pick it just drops down a line and hangs... iv tried hot swapping and every combination of drives connected/disconnected i can think of... i dont have a floppy drive my intel 915gag/d915psy mobo setup doesnt have a floppy port even on it so iv tried booting from cd and runningmtkflash on there and i've switched over to a hd and tried running off there but i get the same result... could anyone pardon my ignorance and tell me if this http://support.intel.com/products/motherboard/d915gag/index.htm can even handle this 360 drive... p.s. this says it has a floppy controller but mine is a sony version with no floppy controller... gotta love sony huh?

I figured it's the ATI IDE Controller so I changed the Nforce 3 entry in mtkflash to this:

02107643F0017001

and still no luck.

Any ideas?

Thanks

heres somthing that might be helpfull

QUOTE(garyopa at XBH)
I found to be able to flash the Samsung:

1: DON'T WANT TO HAVE THE DRIVE APPEAR IN THE BIOS

2: Go into the BIOS configuration and make sure SATA is set to NON-RAID

3: Boot up your system to the DOS prompt, with the SATA plugged into the 360, but the 360 TURNED OFF

4: Then turn on the 360 system (remember to have the VIDEO CABLE plugged IN ALSO)

5: Type in the "MTKflash r /m backup.bin" command, and you will see only two selections both IDE, no SATA.

6: Select one of the IDE ports, and then press CTRL-C and the program will abort and return to DOS prompt.

7: Type in the "MTKflash r /m backup.bin" again, and NOW you will see the third selection which is "SATA".

8: Select it, and sit back and watch your Samsung drive firmware being dumped.

That's all it it for those with VIA chipset

it the right ammount of numbers, so its worth a try

hello ppl, can i get your help?

I have a Sata chipset - Intel 82801GR/GH Sata Raid controller on an ABIT AL8 motherboard.

Can anyone confirm that this sata controller works with mtkflash? (read as much as I can on the forum)

I've tried editing mtkflash with hex editor and still no joy (altho I'm not convinced I knew what I was doing!)

The error message I keep getting is as follows:- "Failed to identify flash type" and the 360 led flashes until I swith it off.

Any help wud b much appreciated.

Thanx in advance

PS. Just realised my mistake - Chipset = Intel ICH7R Express Chipset (AL8)
