Since I'm waiting for my Via PCI..I decided to play with my SIL3112 PCI. It seems this card, purchased only a month ago is way out of date (BIOS and Driver) many new advancments for IDE..perhaps flashing using the modified MTK_NF4 ?

5. Programming the SiI3112 BIOS
5.2.1 Verify the SiI3112 driver version to be SATALink 1.2.0.57. If the driver version precedes either of those noted, download the latest driver from www.siliconimage.com.
a. Right click on My Computer and select Manage
b. Select Device Manager from the Computer Management tree
c. Expand the SCSI and RAID controllers set of items
d. Right click on the Silicon Image SiI3112 SATALink Controller and select Properties from the pop-up menu
e. Select the Drivers tab
f. Find Driver Version reported on the tab
5.2.2 Ensure that a hard disk drive or an SV2000 is plugged into one of the SiI3112 SATA ports.
5.2.3 Launch the Silicon Image ATA Controllers application from the Windows Control Panel.
5.2.4 Click the Flash BIOS tab
5.2.5 Click the Browse button and select the b4250.bin file
5.2.6 Click the Program Flash button
Note: The firmware download should take less than five minutes to complete.
