Editing Mtkflash To Work With Your Sata Chipset

QUOTE(Geremia From HBX)
in most cases you don't even need to edit the primary and secondary I/O address value, just leave them at F0 01 70 01 and change only the device and vendor ID, mtkflash should identify itself the I/O address.
It works for my VT8237 onboard sata and VT6421L pci sata, with or without sata bios loaded (not important)
About VIA, controller bios hangs on drive recognition, so if you are unable to disable the controller bios, simply don't connect nothing to the sata ports during boot, just connect the sata dvdrom prior to run mtkflash (for flashing) or after windows completely loaded (for SS dumping, drive unlocking doesn't work for via, at leat for my 2 controllers)(latest VIA drivers needed).

so for those of you without a 7byte difference (with your card listed in mtkflash) just leave the last 4bytes alone and use only "PNP Device ID" line Values, for those of you with out your card listed in MTKFlash you can try using the hex above as the last 4bytes
CODE
F001 7001

If it doesn't work then you probably have a card that is not and will not be supported, there's a possibility of it being supported in the future but i would just go get a $10 SATA controller card if i was you

Ok i got a Asrock p4vt8 mobo with VIA VT8237 soundbridge chipset
Msinfo32.exe looks like this:

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Namn   VIA SATA RAID Controller
Tillverkare   VIA Technologies, Inc.
Status   OK
PNP-enhets-ID   PCI\VEN_1106&DEV_3149&SUBSYS_31491849&REV_80\3&61AAA01&0&78
I/O-port   0x0000EC00-0x0000EC07
I/O-port   0x0000E800-0x0000E803
I/O-port   0x0000E400-0x0000E407
I/O-port   0x0000E000-0x0000E003
I/O-port   0x0000DC00-0x0000DC0F
I/O-port   0x0000D800-0x0000D8FF
IRQ-kanal   IRQ 20
Drivrutin   e:\windows\system32\drivers\viamraid.sys (5.1.2600.520, 90,50 kB (92 672 byte), 2006-05-24 12:51)
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
First 4 bytes from "PNP" = 06 11 49 31 right?

Second 4 bytes from "I/O"  = 00 EC 00 E4 right ?

after editing mtkflash.exi in hex workshop it looks like this (green lines modified):

http://putfile.com/pic.php?pic=5/14308210193.jpg&s=f5    (putfile wont work)

But when i look at ur images u have edited some text before VIA8237 where does that come from ?

Cause when i do mtkflash.exe /sata it says no device found as usual  blink.gif

every file can be viewed in txt and every 1 txt letter has 2 heximental values, therfor when you edit in hex you change the txt values

Reminder: this is a tut to edit MTKFlash to get it to work with your SATA hardware (Not your XBOX 360 Drive)
You have to eather HotSwap while in dos or you can "boot in to dos, turn on xbox360 (with power atached), connect SATA cable to TS drive, Run MTKFlash"

I was having the same problems with detection as well.
This is what i did, also this flasher works with the via pci cards as i have the same numbers as below

http://rapidshare.de/files/21260871/MTKFLASH.EXE.html

PNP-enhets-ID PCI\VEN_1106&DEV_3149&SUBSYS_31491849&REV_80\3&61AAA01&0&78
I/O-port 0x0000EC00-0x0000EC07
I/O-port 0x0000E800-0x0000E803
I/O-port 0x0000E400-0x0000E407
I/O-port 0x0000E000-0x0000E003
I/O-port 0x0000DC00-0x0000DC0F
I/O-port 0x0000D800-0x0000D8FF

Disable all ide channels in bios
shutdown pc, then take out all ide cables.
plug in a sata hdd drive on to port 0 (i used xbox360 drive)
boot pc and this hdd will get detected
type in the comand mtkflash r /m orig.bin
power xbox 360 up with no sata cable, leave for 20 secs
take sata cable out of hdd and plug in to tosh dvd
hit return and pick channel 0 this will now read from dvd drive.

This worked for me and it looks like i have the same via card as others
just use the mtkflash link as i tried others and edited ones but this is the only one that would read

you are not supposed to run around shaking them whilst playing a game you know?

And you do not need to clean inside with washing up liquid...
