Hopefully I got some people's attention being that my previous inquiries weren't answered. I appreciate Xport's contributions as much as anyone, but I can't for the life of me get the latest version of mameox(or any of xport's versions) to work with my .84 romset. (I actually snagged 2 .84 romsets from 2 different locations- neither work)

My old roms(albeit an incomplete archive) worked great on the older release, but NONE of my .84 roms work now, no matter what I do. I keep getting file not found errors. The roms work perfectly on my pc! They all also register perfectly in rom center.

I have my roms in 3 directories:
f:/mame/1
f:/mame/2
f:/mame/3

I also have the 128mb memory upgrade. I'm begging for some help. I would appreciate it sooo much if someone can throw me a bone. I'm sure it's a bonehead error on my part.

MAME .84 romset and latest Xport version (MAMEoX_v0.84.b2) work fine for me and my 128.

Have you deleted the old MAMEoX savefiles from the MS dashboard, also is your clock set?

I just copied across the emulator and dumped my ROMs in the directory and it all worked fine.

I suggest that you try a smaller amount of ROMs just in the \roms directory and see what happens then.

Also - the ROMs should be in the MAMEoX directory, e.g:

E/emulators/MAMEoX_v0.84.b2/roms

in my case.

First, all my 0.84 ROMS work fine. What games are giving you missing file errors? You might be missing the necessary BIOS zips (i.e. neogeo.zip for NeoGeo games). It's either that or your ROMs aren't really 0.84.

Sorry about the double post, my cable router DHCP is screwing up my DNS which caused the double post(when I first posted it said it failed.) I just wish I caught it right when it happened.

Anyway, I think the save game file is the issue. Not sure where it is, but i'll find it. Thanks for the suggestions. Can't wait to get this working.

man for the record thats harsh , most peeps on this forum have not had that problem
so id say before you start talking sh*t about xports work you should look at a few things
1. it's still in beta and there is a system
xport releases a release e.g b1
then the scene helps test it and reports bugs
then xport(i love you) starts in on the bugs and works with the scene to squash them
eq. b2
and again this process repeats.

so when dumb f*cks like you who cant delete old save files have the nerve to make a statement like that to xport and to the rest of us taking the time to work on such things you need to act right before you get smacked right be0tch

It was the .ini file. that needed to be deleted. Thanks!

tekn0, your an f'n ass. The fact that the ini file is in E:/TDATA/4d414d45/ isn't exactly jumping out and crying to be deleted. On top of that it's buried in the FAQ in a not-so-obvious place.

I'm sure the readme file says to delete save file and ini and as a matter of common sense if it has changed a lot (i.e. one version to another + Virtual Memory) I can't believe you kept the old one and mouthed off before reading here or asking politely.

Unfortunately people who mouth off and then do not apologise put people off of realising stuff into the scene - so at least have the decency to edit your posts and apologise.

Xport's work is simply amazing as is the rest of the stuff released - I can't believe how ungrateful you are !

sorry not a big fan of mame...

everybody says its great and i respect it...maybe i just dont know how to use it...

but it always says file error or something...

maybe its my roms.

so i guess someday i can actually enjoy it.
