Did you make the SS yourself? If you didnt it might have been from the wrong region/language

Booktype---> believe in one hand and shit in the other...see which one fills up first.

Seriously...dont believe...check !

I had this exact same problem, turned out to be my burner I was using verbatum 2.4x +DL, games would start to boot then black screen for about 15 seconds then the unreadable error would show, I burnt 5 backups 2 worked ok, I went and got a new ASUS burner you can actually see the difference on the recording surface between the two the ASUS looks alot smoother now all games boot 100%

I've got the exact same problem, using Verb media with a Pioneer 111D.

Is it definatley a burner problem?

When burned with the Pioneer, did you put the disc back in and use DVDInfoPro to make sure it was set to booktype DVD-ROM?

yes it was set to DVD-ROM.

if anyone else can confirm this is definatley a burner issue then I'll buy a NEC drive.

I'll try a different burner when I get home and report back results.

I recall seeing a link in a thread to different firmwares for various DVD burners... anyone remember where that's located? can't remember if it was here or xboxhacker.

If this keeps on happening, we have to start and pinn a thread with working burners and DVD discs brands that works best

Count me in.

Took a day disassembling dvd drives to find one that can rip PGR3 PAL in wxripper. Ripped perfectly.
Took SS bin from xtreme package, used SS merger 1.3 to apply. CloneCD to burn.

360 starts to read, black screen, tries quickly a cycle for a couple seconds then Dirty disc error.

Booktype DVD-ROM. Perfect read-speed curves in DVD Speed using the NEC 4571A burner, and I mean PERFECT. Verbatim disc at 2.4x.

Could of course be a number of things but first and foremost I suspect the SS bin for PGR3 PAL in the xtreme package is for PALUK and my PGR3 might be PAL EU (or PAL DEN NOR SWE FIN).

Unfortunately its the only game I have so I'll have to burn a few more coasters trying to get it to work. Next I will TRY to get the proper SS using my own 360 but I might not get it to work in windows.

I see a pattern, 4 people with the same problem and we're all using Verbs  dry.gif

I think if it was an SS problem then you'd get an error saying "game has been updated with incompatible version"

I think we should try different media.

My memorex DL's work great.  In fact, their media code is RITEK-D01-01 which is great.  Ritek are the best media around (arguably second to verbatims only, but at a much more reasonable price).

Anyway, RITEK branded work fine, VErbatims work fine and Memorex branded work.

I had all kinds of problems with various releases because I was too lazy to rip my own.  After no success with releases, I ripped my own copies of GRAW, Kameo and PGR3 and all worked perfectly.  So some part of the data you are writing is wrong.. either the iso or the SS.  I doubt it is actually a media issue.

okay I just tried again with the exact same media & burner (and burner firmware) as vandale from the post http://forums.xbox-s...howtopic=513518 so perhaps I am doing something wrong with the actual ISO creating/patching.

another question: what is the error message received when trying to run a backup on a non-modified xbox360? I'm 99% certain I flashed everything fine but just curious maybe I need to try it again? I can play my retail copies fine.
