Xbox360 Just "reading..."
« on: May 19, 2006, 07:56:00 AM »

The only time that ever happened to me was when I forgot to plug the SATA cable back into the drive from the 360 mobo.

However, it may be completely unrelated...is the booktype set to DVD-ROM?

So i dunno ....

How can i check if the burn i did is good ?

Also the sata cable has to be plugged in since originals work fine.

Insert your burned DVD. Open DVDInfoPro, click on the "Media" button. Look for BookType and make sure it's DVD-ROM.

As far as I know Pioneers don't support bitsetting, however, someone made a custom firmware for the 110D that does enable bitsetting. It's referenced here.

yep it says DVD-ROM under "book type"

Could it be that i used the wrong SS.bin file ? If i put one in there that doesnt match the game would it do that ? Just keep reading ?

I haven't personally tested it, but yes. Did you just throw a random SS into the ISO, instead of one that belongs to GRAW?

I just put in an NTSC SS that i downloaded off the net  into my image of GRAW. Becuase i forgot to extract the ss and i already flashed the firmware back... so i couldn't b bothered.

Was it an SS for GRAW, though?

Before you waste another DL, you might just want to rip one yourself.

You may also want to reduce your burn speed to something like 2.4X instead of 4X

Hmmmm i did the same thing with NFS MW as i did with GRAW

I got my pal iso image (that was done via wXRipper) , found a NFS MW PAL ss bin on newsgroups,

patched it using that SS patcher 1.3

Burned it at 2.4x with CloneCD

And now it tells me ... "Unrecognized disc"...

I've also noticed now that my fans are running full speed even when in on the main menu (when they should be silent)

Just a quick question .... the 8 small black screws, those are to keep the radiators on ? right ? Could it be that i loosened those while taking the xbox apart, that now it's going so loud ?

ok i think i may be onto something here and it's not going to be pretty....

i'm just downloading a pre-patched GRAW image which is supposedly supposed to be 110% bullteproof.... we'll see if i still have problems... and i think i will.....

here's the reason why....

i used KDX 1.2 to patch the "proper" version of the hacked firmware....

now....

what i did is i manually patched the original xtreme package firmware with my dvd key and compared the two firmwares in hex editor..... what i found is that 3 or 4 bytes are different.

So......... i think this may be causing my problems.....

I know there is a new version of KDX out there .... .1.5 or whatever... screw that i say.... if i still have problems with GRAW booting up i'll reflash the drive with my manually patched (hex-edited) firmware and we'll see if that works and my previous backups also.

will keep everyone posted...

BTW... my firmware for my drive is: "ms25"

ok this is just screwed upppp... majorly.....

i have now three firmwares on my hands....

1) xtreme proper patched with dvd key using KDX 1.2
2) xtreme hand patched via hex editor with dvd key
3) xtreme proper patched with dvd key using KDX 1.5

and each firmware is different !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

what the hell is going on ?

I will try firmwares 2 and 3 tomorrow morning... itz too late now i gotta go to bed
and the god forsaken GRAW image turned out to be corrupt !!!! bloody great.
