Hi For all pioneer owners:
There is group called Buffalo from Japan that release various Bitsetting firmware for various drives. These firmware are usually denoted as 8.** where ** correspons to pioneer's various number.
So 8.39 is bitsetting firmware modified from pioneer 1.39!
These firmware for a lot of pioneer drives can be found here:
http://forum.rpc1.or...4&manufactor=25Now just to clearify these firmwares only do bitsetting on DVD+R and DVD+R DL.
Once you flash your drive with one of these firmwares, you will not be able to download the pioneer firmware and just flash your drive back to the original. Pioneer will not let you, it will give you an error saying your current firmware is not supported. Don't panic! I went through this already.
So here is another very useful tool for owners with pioneer drives(DAM We are so lucky!!)
DVRFlash:
http://lasvegas.rpc1.org/DVRFLASH will flash your drive with any firmware you give it you can even force it, keeping this in mind be careful. So now with this tool you will be able to downgrade you firmware, and apply any till your heart contents. Oh by the way you need 2 files to flash the drive the kernel and the normal firmware this is usually found once you unpack whatever firmware release your are using. This is usually found in a corresponding subfolder on your C drive.
An example of how to use DVRFLASH taken from the readme:
In the following samples, the kernel firmware is 'R5100004.133' and the
normal firmware is 'R5100104.133'. You will need to change those names
according to the firmwares you downloaded.
You can input these firmwares in any order you like as DVRFlash will
recognize them automatically.
And YES you can go back and forth ANY official/patched firmware revision
or patch official/patched x.yz over official/patched x.yz
Don't you think we would TELL YOU if it was otherwise???
[NT/2k/XP/2k3]
You don't have to install anything special. Just open a DOS Window and run
a command like:
DVRFlash -vf I: R5100004.133 R5100104.133
In this case 'I:' is the DVR drive letter.
The command above will force flash a 105 compatible drive (in I:) with the
Pioneer DVR-105 v1.33 firmware
The command above also works with USB/Firewire drives
If you don't know your drive letter, just run DVRFlash without parameters
and write down the drive letter detected by the program. Then run the
command as indicated above
So people with 109, 110, and 110D can now enjoy bitsetting.
