i just got a pci card with a via chipset on it, since i had an old via chipset mobo, that worked fine untill i upgraded, to a nforce4 sli 32 mobo (now im buggered).

It's doing the same damm thing as the nforce4 problem, chipset never gets reconised in mtkflash so i cant pick anything, so i cant flash.

I got xtreme3.0 on there and it reconises it in windows still so i know it must be a problem with mtkflash hex values.

Normally you can find the 7's in the I/O but not with this card the differences are F's and stuff, so i used the 1st and 3rd I/O as someone suggested but still no luck, anyone got any ideas for this?

Name VIA VT6421 RAID Controller
Manufacturer VIA Technologies, Inc.
Status OK
PNP Device ID PCI\VEN_1106&DEV_3249&SUBSYS_32491106&REV_50\4&2411F011&0&3890
I/O Port 0x0000DC00-0x0000DC0F
I/O Port 0x0000D880-0x0000D88F
I/O Port 0x0000D800-0x0000D80F
I/O Port 0x0000D480-0x0000D48F
I/O Port 0x0000D400-0x0000D41F
I/O Port 0x0000D000-0x0000D0FF

I came up with this: - 0611 4932 00DC 00D8 - still no luck (IMG:style_emoticons/default/grr.gif)

finally got it to work now using the above hex code and another hex code aswell "0611 4932 D024 B024"

Make sure everythings disconected and powered off (xbox 360 and sata cable) untill your ready to hit enter for the following command: -

mtkflash r /m /sata orig.bin or

mtkflash w /m /sata xtrm32.bin

also a major problem cause was the mtkflash filename i had loads mtkflash2.exe, mtkflashvia.exe etc ...

rename them all to mtkflash.exe and make sure mtkflash.typ is there too.
Use separate folders if you have more than one mtkflash file to try out.

Also make sure it's in the correct sata port.

Is there anyone who successfully detected a Samsung drive with an Asus A7V880 MB with VIA VT8237 on-board Southbridge chipset? Thanks

uk_dan2k,

There is a forum that will teach you how to hexedit the perfect way...they simplify it to where anyone can understand how to find your numbers and plug it in. I was having the same problem. WHen I hexedited my mktflash.exe.everything worked perfectly.

We have both the PCI VT6421A chipset:
http://tekgems.com/P...i22-vt6421a.htm

And also the PCI VT6421L chipset:
http://tekgems.com/P...sy-via-150r.htm

Either card can be shipped to any country (e.g. Canada, United Kingdom, Australia, Sweden, etc.)

Shipping to Canada would be around $5, while places like Sweden would be around $10.

Just ordered one from eBay (UK but he posts worldwide). I got the 4x USB & 2x SATA port one. It means I don't have to keep opening up my PC every time to flash it (because the port is external), plus you can never have enough USB ports. I'll tell you whether it arrives & works, but it should do.

Edit: Looks like he sold out, but I'm sure he'll get more in. For the record, the one I got was this.

Hi everyone, i was just wondering if anyone has had any luck with this sata pci card http://www.newegg.co...N82E16815124020 If anyone has any information on this that would be great.  Also if this one won't work is there a card i could purchase today at Compusa that would be worth buying  (money isn't a big deal) so if it just costs more at compusa or best buy i wouldn't mind paying more to have it today.

Thanks again!!

a little more info:  i have the drive that is labeled h-l on top ( used picture to determine the drive though haven't actually opened the xbox 360).  I'm not sure if this matters either but its probably one of THEE first ones made i received this xbox360 from the mountain dew sweepstakes.

How the heck do I buy the SY-VIA-150 card from this site:

http://www.iwin2win.com/pcisacococan.html

When I go there, there are no links to purchase anything...all of the links on the bottom don't allow me to click on anything, I'm confused.

Also, why are people buying the RAID and non-RAID versions. Are they buying RAID for their hard drives as well?

Please help

THANKS

I would like to know if there is a good pci sata card that will work with both the Samsung drive and the Hitachi too?  I have both versions and the connectivity kit.  Reading through this thread it seems there are two choices:

For the Hitachi:
SIIG SC-SAT212

For the Samsung:
VT6421L

From what I gather the SIIG card won't work for the TS drive but that the VT6321L will work for the TS drive but can be picky for the Hitachi (unless 2-wire is used?).  Can anyone comment on what would be the best card to work with both dvd-rom drives with the least trouble.  Thank you very much.

Took me a fair while to find where to purchase a VIA VT6421 chipset SATA PCI card for sale in the UK (other than some expensive ones I found on ebay). For anyone else in the same boat, here's a couple of links to retailers with them in stock atm. (There are also some 360-related positive comments/success stories posted in these site's product reviews.)

and

N.B. for those who haven't read it elsewhere, it would appear the VIA VT6421L is no longer manufactured.
