So will this card work for flashing the firmware and detecting the drive under windows??

Thanx

Shizz

Yeah, a VIA 6421 chipset will detect the drive both in DOS (for mtkflash) and windows (for copying)

--------------------------------------------------------------

I've just booted my first backup (PD0). I was able to flash using a "Highpoint RocketRAID 1520" and copy using "Compusa Sil3512 chipset based PCI card". It would be much easier to go the VIA 6421 chipset route, but my setup works and I'm happy. All of it was pretty easy execpt having the hardware issues and taking so long to get the proper PCI cards, my first copy (of Oblivion) didn't work also because I didn't unlock the drive before dumping the files. (to check if you dumped the .iso correctly open in a hex editor, if it's all zeros then you didn't unlock the drive, that will save you coasters)

Ok, I've been doing some testing.  I will do a better write up later but for now I have got the SII3112 sata pci card to see the TS-H943 dvd in Windows XP.  It was also recongized by the config util during bootup.  Now Someone posted about the bios update and a different driver.  The bios was b4270.bin that does work.  But only some SII3112 card will let you flash. The compusa one will not flash. Belkin SII3112 will flash.  I still have 1 move card here to see if it flashes.  I am doing some more testing and will post more.

Second I did find a cheap PPA 1301 with the VIA6421A chip set at Fry's for 29.99 SKU#3812387.  Now that worked in dos to read and write the flash but it was not seen in Windows.  I haven't messed more with that yet but I will see if there is another bios for it.

thx

when you say you have the TS recongized in xp using the sil3112...was your TS already flashed with xtrm0800 FW? Please list your steps, I'm very interested.

thx.

I read somewhere else with this card that you must update the drivers for the card to VIA_RAID_V520C Drivers.  Try that and report back....I am still waiting on mine to come in the mail
