You can also buy it here the VT6421L card here:

http://tekgems.com/P...cd-a-6421-n.htm

We ship international as well via Global Air or Global Express.

Can anyone confirm if they bought the sata card from the following site? I'm very interested.

I just got the card and flashed my drive. Thanks everyone for the work you've contributed.
There was a guy on the form who asked about the mtkflashvia and what mtkflash.typ file to use. You actually just use the the from com4eva's file. other than that the step by step tutorial on xbox scene worked great for me. The only problem I had was with opening the xbox. Anandtech claimed that while opening the xbox you need a t12 (torx 12) screwdriver. Only one problem... there is no such thing in any of the stores I've checked at. But the only screwdriver you need to get the 360 open is a torx 10.
For some good pictures on how to open the 360 check out this site-- It's got higher resolution pictures and better instructions on how to open the top and the bottom plastic sides. they use some special tool to open the 360 in their pictures, but a paper clip worked great for me.
The site is:
http://www.xbox-accessories.com/instructio...ssemble360.html

Once again thanks for all those who contributed. Really appreciate it.

Same card, but much cheaper.  You can get the non-raid version (it's not needed anyway) for $15 shipped at newegg.com

Yes, I know, thanks but unfortunately I live in Canada and newegg is being stubborn about shipping to it's northern american brother  dry.gif . That's my only option for that sata card from that site who does international shipping.

Hi Ge1st - if you buy the card and write a small review about the card for xbox - I'll put it on our web site and give 50% off the order total. Thanks.

im familiar with flashing tsop's(i flash cable modems all the time) but it seems to me the most complicated part of this whole procedure is takn the thing apart...lol.  i saw someone mention a paperclip workd for them, do i really need to create a tool to do this or can anything with a point small enough to get into those holes work.  thanks in advance.

I used the edited mtkflash posted near the beginning of this thread to originally flash my 360 with xtreme 1.0  Can I use the same mtkflash to update the drive with v 2.3?

So, does flashing the firmware for the DVD drive to play backups, only work on Nforce4 mobos? I have an MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum and it has onboard SATA. Will I be able to do anything with that? Thanks.

i just got a pci card with a via chipset on it, since i had an old via chipset mobo, that worked fine  untill i upgraded, to a nforce4 sli 32 mobo (now im buggered).

It's doing the same damm thing as the nforce4 problem, chipset never gets reconised in mtkflash so i cant pick anything, so i cant flash.

I got xtreme3.0 on there and it reconises it in windows still so i know it must be a problem with mtkflash hex values.

Normally you can find the 7's in the I/O but not with this card the differences are F's and stuff, so i used the 1st and 3rd I/O as someone suggested but still no luck, anyone got any ideas for this?

Name VIA VT6421 RAID Controller
Manufacturer VIA Technologies, Inc.
Status OK
PNP Device ID PCI\VEN_1106&DEV_3249&SUBSYS_32491106&REV_50\4&2411F011&0&3890
I/O Port 0x0000DC00-0x0000DC0F
I/O Port 0x0000D880-0x0000D88F
I/O Port 0x0000D800-0x0000D80F
I/O Port 0x0000D480-0x0000D48F
I/O Port 0x0000D400-0x0000D41F
I/O Port 0x0000D000-0x0000D0FF

I came up with this: - 0611 4932 00DC 00D8 - still no luck grr.gif

Does the Via vt6421 pci card work on this pc: Link ?

The onboard nforce410 doesn't work, because there it just says: port 9f0, master/salve a0

And where can I buy this card in germany ?
