There Is A Pci Sata Adapter Reported To Work
« Reply #15 on: May 19, 2006, 08:53:00 PM »

I can confirm that the "Highpoint RocketRAID 1520" will work for flashing the firmware with a hex-edited mtkflash. Note that it will not work without a hex-edited mktflash. WILL NOT WORK FOR DETECTING DRIVE UNDER WINDOWS. The guy who confirmed this card working at xboxhacker also confirmed this that he could not detect the drive in windows no matter what he did. He also said used a Compusa 3512 chipset PCI to SATA card that was able to detect the drive in windows. I might try a 3112 chipset tomorrow as that is all that is around.

Anybody who has one of these cards could just order a cheap VIA 6421 chipset and use that for detecting the drive in windows. I think a VIA 6421 chipset will also allow the drive to be flashed with a hex-edited mtkflash.

Thanks for the quick response! smile.gif

The newegg link was for a 9.99 dollar pci sata card and I figured it would be cheaper then new motherboard.

What is the cheapest motherboard you guys found that worked?

but wont allow the dirve to be detected under windows correct?

how will I dump the disks?

perhaps some hex editing in the Xtrm0800.bin would work?
I do intend to do a duelboot mod so I do not mind testing things when myne comes in

just tell what to edit were

or perhaps when you find out you could conferm a differint cheap card that will work? or maybe just one ouhers have confermed

The VIA 6421 chipset edited mtkflash can be found somewhere in this thread, http://www.xboxhacke...=33&topic=794.0

It's 12 pages, but if I remember it's within the first 6.
