There Is A Pci Sata Adapter Reported To Work
« on: May 18, 2006, 07:40:00 AM »

From xboxhacker (go to the thread for working links):

http://www.xboxhacker.net/index.php?option...3&topic=794.140

Im officially jumping on this card's metaphorical bandwagon

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16815124022

14.50 shipped and it has the VIA VT6421L chipset. Dumps and writes like a champ. Um what more could you want. I've messaged a few people about the 0800 firmware Windows compatability because I'm not 100% positive (though there's a very good chance) that it works, but let's face it. Worst case scenario you buy a second Syba card with a Silicon Image chipset ($12.99 Newegg i love you) and you're completely set. Woohoo. Also guess what people... it's n00b friendly!!!!  You can once again leech off the smart people yay! Hex editing already done for you. Here's your link (see thread)

All the credit goes to r3zon8 for the find. I challenge anyone to find a better solution

P.S. I'll be sure to post when I find out about the 0800 firmware. Either when someone speaks up or I get the card in the mail myself.

EDIT: According to tbird a few pages back the only 0800 firmware issues he had were due to lousy motherboard drivers. More updates soon

Thanks, I caught this yesterday. Call me selfish but I had to make sure I ordered mine before I was going to announce we had a working one. I've ordered mine with next day shipping and hope to have it tomorrow. I will be pissed if it doesn't come tomorrow and I have to wait till Monday.

If I get it tomorrow I'll post back my results.

I also had the same ideas of if the 0800 FW didn't work with this chipset that we could just buy another Sil card.

I almost would not be surprised if all online stores of sold out within a few days. This seems to be the only solution for those of us without onboard SATA connections.

One guy confirmed this card worked last night also, http://www.newegg.co...N82E16816115015

As far as I know he is the only one that has gotten one of these cards, and is the only I've seen that worked besides the VIA 6421 chipset.

I ordered the 1520 version of the same card since it's a lil cheaper. I noticed another guy ordered the same card I got, so we'll see when we get ours. But as far as I know those are the only 2 PCI cards that have been confirmed. Hope that helps.

@cubex: It has the VIA 6421 chipset, but I won't say that very card is 100% compatible (I don't want you pissed at me if it doesn't work for you), but I think the card will work since it has the VIA 6421 chipset though.

EDIT: I feel within a few more days we should have a better compatibility list than now. It's kind of unorganized now and again as far as I know there have only been those 2 cards confirmed (VIA 6421 chipset confirmed 2x).
