Making Backups(need Help)
« on: May 17, 2006, 12:39:00 PM »

I have raw dumps of all the games I own on my pc hard drive. My computer is being very gay and will not boot properly if the xbox 360 drive is plugged in. Therefore I was forced to find the SS.bin files on the net. I then placed bothe the raw dump of doa4 and it's ss.bin into the isobuilder folder(I renamed DOA4 to game.iso). I then ran the program and it created the dvd image. After it was done burning I tested only to get an error. It told me to try cleaning my disk with a soft cloth and something else. I just now found out how to change my setting to make it burn as a dvd-rom. I only have one more blank dvd+r DL disk left, do you think changing those settings will make this burn properly. Or could it be something else?

Alright, I'm going to start burning this disk. I kinda already asked this, but I'll reask. Does anyone have any clue why my computer wont boot with the drive turned on. Dvdinfopro see my xbox 360 drive even without power...but thats not to useful is it?

Well I just wasted my 3rd DL disk... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/grr.gif) ! I'll try ejecting the tray though...that sounds stupid enough to possibly work. That way I can remake my backups cause these raw dumps just aren't going to work for me...wish I would I have known that 20 bucks ago!

You wouldn't by chance be downloading the PI releases and trying to apply a separate SS.bin that you obtained elsewhere, would you?

You've said earlier that your PC won't boot into windows with the DVD Drive connected. So you're not making a RAW dump from an actual Xbox 360 ISO, which means you're obtaining the dumps from somewhere else. Chances are they're stripped images and not actual raw dumps. This will not work. PI releases and the SS.bin files floating around on the net will not work with one another. At some point I'm guessing all images will be re-released and be patched, however for now you need to rip the raw dumps manually with your 360 DVD Drive.

Ok with all that said no I didn't put the dumps onto my computer. I roomate did from his computer, but I'm home from college now and I'm guessing he just didn't do the process right. That crazy fool. I'm installing windows now on a 3rd hard drive(I have 2 IDE raid hard drives). This will hopefully be enough so if I want to make a backup I can just switch over and disable raid to make them! Wish me luck...
