Xbox 360 Core Package More Chances to get TS-H943 Drive?-- Posted by XanTium on May 17 13:07 EST
Team-xecuter.com reports that chances are higher you'll get a Toshiba-Samsung H943 DVD-drive (where you can flash the recently released Commodore4Eva Xtreme modified firmware for TS-H943 or Foros360's edited version) in the UK if you buy a Core package:

We just got a call from one of our customers in the UK. He tells me that all the CORE packs he bought today had the Toshiba DVD Drives and all the Premium packs he bought had the Hitachi DVD Drives. So our recommendation if you are looking to get a Toshiba drive is to get a new core pack.

What drive do you have? (easy check) Core/Premium? Country? Manifacturing date?

Sounds about right. I bought one Premium and one Core today, the Core had a Samsung drive, the Premium didn't. I'm in the UK too.

The story hold little water.

I've bought 20 consoles in the last week. 11 Premium, 9 Core. All had the same dates.

the Premiums... 6 of one drive, 5 of the other.

the Cores.. 5 of one, 4 of the other.

Do not make a purchasing decision based on this news story. You might regret it if you are DRIVE shopping.

You are still right, though. Never assume that you'll get the right drive. Just hope for it.

Just bought a Core and it has a Hitachi (its going back!).  These news stories are just causing more confusion what is it a slow news day Xbox-Scene and you just feel like reporting crap that is not helping anybody?  Why do you keep bring all this attention to the hack?    This site has more stories about it than any other.. Why don't you just post the hack?  You are doing everything but that.. so it's not like you havent already implicated yourselves...

Geesh I miss the old days when the hacker community was private, not like People magazine.  I remember when I got back into the scene someone told me that if Message Boards and Forums are the reasons why the scene will become over exposed.. and yes, that day has come..

Shawn: As of now, nobody has stepped up to deliver the Hitachi firmware and the info has been around a lot longer than anything on the Samsung.  Some speculate the first hack was a fake and I tend to agree.  I would say don't expect a FW hack for it, there seems to be something that is preventing it from working 100% and we seem to be lacking a hacker with enough skill to do it.  Plus the Modchippers got their hands around it so even if it is possible I think they might hold onto it so it can be exploited to fill their pockets..  Either way, if you got a Hitch your screwed..

Bought a Core and  Premium Yesterday, both Hitachi's. Core was from 2/2006, premium was from 3/2006. This story is BS. This is all speculation. Its the luck of the draw. I dont even feel like bothering to return it just to get the same thing back, as well as deal with stupid customer service ppl.

I received the Core pack signed with a date of 30th Novembre 2005, and it has a Hitachi-LG drive.

I'm from the Netherlands
