Toshiba-samsung Firmware Installation Tutorial
« Reply #45 on: May 21, 2006, 11:31:00 AM »

Thanx GeeBee, it worked a treat.

My only problem now is that i can't get my 360 drive to show in windows.
I have just bought an Asus Av8 Motherboard which uses the onboard Via 8237 sata chipset. It worx great for flashing the drive when booted into dos from floppy but if i have it connected when i try to load windows the sata bios won't load during boot post and the machine locks up at the XP logo screen. do i have to have the 0800 firmware on the drive to have windows see it? could this be the reason it is locking up (because i havn't tried booting with the 0800 firmware installed) TIA

you need to flash with the 0800 firmware...thats the whole point of it. Should work fine then but you may need to hex edit your MTKFLASH...see the posts about that.

Nope  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)  still locks up on the XP logo during boot up. Even with the 0800 firmware.

what about my hard drive?  sleeping.gif
part 3:

CODE
So, when you booted to dos you can either insert a floppy disk with
mtkflash to get mtkflash running or you can put it on your harddrive and
boot it from there.
Now, type the following line in the command prompt: mtkflash r /m orig.bin
When you got the application on a:\, you should enter:
A:\mtkflash r /m orig.bin, but when it’s on the hard drive (which will be
another drive letter) just put that drive letter instead of A:\. (For example:
C:\MTKFlash\mtkflash r /m orig.bin)

Press enter, and the application should start. Now you can select SEC
master or SEC Slave, just select Master. The application should start
reading the flash, this will take a while. After it’s finished it will tell you to
reboot the system. (If you putted mtkflash on the Floppy disk it will put the
orig.bin there. If you installed mtkflash in, for example: C:\MTKFlash\ it will
put the .bin file there).

How would I go about flashing

I have 2 SATA HArd Drives  C and F
SHould I connect 360 drive to C drives sata data cable
Boot mtk flash from the F drive with the command F:\MTKFlash\mtkflash r /m orig.bin

thanks

I have an ASUS A8N and I had exactly the same issue, if the boot HD and the 0800 flashed 360 drive are on the same SATA controller it locks the boot up. My solution was to plug the 360 drive into the separate SATA Raid controller (I am lucky enough to have both NF4 SATA and SI3114 SATA on my motherboard.) but if you only have 1 controller you might be stuck mate. Sorry I can't offer you anymore but those are my experiences.

My Question.

I followed this guide as well and after a few problems I backed up my 360 copy of PGR3 and smiled like a Chessire cat when it loaded. The last issue I have is when backing up XBOX1 games they end up needing DL blanks. For example Crimson Skies is 4GB (when files are FTP'd to make a normal XBOX disc) but it comes out at over 6.8GB when this process finishes. I think the issue is with ISO Buster because game.iso is over 6GB.

Any ideas peeps.........

Maybe one section could be clarified.
The Extracting the Security Sectors:
Once the four lines have been enter and the send button has been used for each and the ss.bin saved.
STEP 4.
Should the final command look EXACTLY like the screenshot?
With the CDB Size of 10
Buffer Size at 80
And Drop down set to Media?
And should DVDInfoPro be left open while using ISOBuster?

Thanks,

Great TUT.

I'm stuck: when I open isobuster and pick my TS drive, it immediately asks me if I want to scan for some mysterious sectors or something. I pick cancel, then continue to follow the tut. When I go to burn with decrypter, it says image not recognized. According ot the tut this means I didn't rip my game right.
The tut never mentions this dialog box that pops up, what should I do?
Edit: Oh and I never get the read error dialog box either, so I never get to say 'fill with zero's'

Ok got it with clonecd, decrypter has issues with the image starting with 0's.
Add this to your tutorial!
Ripping the Game:Make sure to power the system on with the eject button and insert the game. Do not power on by holding the big grey button with the game already in the drive.
When extracting the ss I can hear the drive make some faint noises, and some strange characters appear in the main dvdinfopro window near the right side.
I actually wasted a dl because nothing tells you it failed to read the ss. So extract SS's in a quiet environment so you can hear the drive!

I keep getting a problem with isobuster ...

Whatever I do or try it keeps telling me that it is an empty dvd - BLANK CD
lthough it is found by windows and all the rest works very well ....

Is there an alterntive for isobuster or is the problem with DVDInfoPro that does not make the game visible??

Thx dudes

i cant understand this part can someone explain

Leave all of the default boxes checked, you don't need to mess with any
of the settings.

You have 12 boxes here, all filled with 00s. Going from top to bottom (they are
numbered in order) you can put in a command.

Each two digits is a byte:

AD 00 FF 02 FD FF FE 00 08 00 01 C0

AD 00 FF 02 FD FF FE 00 08 00 03 C0

AD 00 FF 02 FD FF FE 00 08 00 05 C0

AD 00 FF 02 FD FF FE 00 08 00 07 C0

Put those commands in, in order.

I finally got mtkflash r /m orig.bin to read my drive. Is the dump size suppose to 1mb? When I try to open my orig.bin with KeyDrive Xtractor Patcher v1-5 it says wrong firmware file. KDX1.1 wont even run I get:
This application has failed to start because the application configuration is incorrect. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem.
Also when I flash xtrm0800.bin to my drive my PC won't detect it.
