Since I dont have a desktop, only a laptop. If I were to use a sata to usb cable, would I be able to mod the firmware for my xbox 360? anyone try this yet?

I'm new on the forum and I must say it's a damn good tutorial;)
Now I have a little question. If i flash my dvd drive, will have any effect on xbox live?
What will happen to the account etc...?
