Toshiba-samsung Firmware Installation Tutorial
« Reply #30 on: May 20, 2006, 05:11:00 AM »

I can get everything to work so far except for the unlocking of dvd drive.

Any suggestions?
When we open dvdinfopro  when we send for custom commands.. are we then supposed to see game data visable on the left before entering in unlock command?

Nothing responds when I send unlock command... any ideas?
If I put custom command on media and leave values at default (I know this is wrong) I at least get an error when I send command.. otherwise the unlock command does nothing when I hit send.

Same here. Trying to send custom command but all i get is a "sense error occurred"  By now I have wasted half a day of my life trying to figure out what the problem is.

I only have one thing that I dont understand and would like for someone to explain what I need. It says that I need Xtreme_Firmware_PROPER_PATCH_XBOX360-iND which is the name of the firmware that we need right. The one I have is not name like that but I see their is (KDX1.5-by-F360TEAM.rar) to patch the firmware with your key. Is "KDX1.5-by-F360TEAM.rar" a file that we need if we dont have Xtreme_Firmware_PROPER_PATCH_XBOX360-iND firmware or what?

thanks

as long as you have either the firmware modified by F360Team or the patch to do it yourself you are good to go

Ive now got V5 of this tutorial , Slight mistake in the ISOBUSTER bit , getting this confussed with the ISOBUILDER in the tutorial.

Could you please say what version of ISO Builder u are using im using 1.9, I dont get the red numbers as in youre pic on the tutorial, I have made 3 coasters so far trying to make a backup of Top Spin.

With the backup I have created , I get Insert disc after bout 20 seconds after it trys to read it, I then try a backup that a friend made that used 2 work , now it doesnt work. Originals still work.

I then reflash my firmware back to backup and then back to xtreme working ok again, I have not put back in the topsin game again in case it causes problems again.

just to clarify, you can't hook up a usb floppy drive, boot from the floppy, and use mtkflash? that sucks... i don't have an internal floppy drive.

Is there a way of knowing if I have the patch firmware. For example: the size of the file that it should be. The size of the file that I have is 256kb. And the name of the file is xtream_package for xbox 360

that package is the old version. Will work but not with KDX v1.5...You will need to hex edit your firmware manually.

Super guide mate, i have it to hand and is so much easier to understand than an nfo !!

I can seem to get access to my dvd drive, i have the tosh/samsung drive so im good there, i have removed all other sata drives and only connected the xbox dvd whilst booting from floppy, i can see the bios has picked up the drive but when i run mtkflash it only sees pri master and sec master...it is slightly different than what the tut states but i have tried both and it always seems to hang, i have left it for half an hour only to discover the xbox switches itself off after some period of time without the AV cable plugged in, i have also tried leaving the drive connected and then booting into windows and using dos prompt, i know the drive is having some effect as it virtually locks windows up untill i turn the xbox off then it seems to restabilise but sometime i have to reboot.....is there a troubleshooting link for this method ??

I have an asus A8N5X socket 939 mobo, it does have nforce 4 drivers and i have seen the modded mtkflash for it, however, due to burning problems with my pioneer burners i removed all nvidia ide drivers and installed the standard windows ones, i therefore assume i dont need to use the nforce mtkflash ?? i will however try this if only to eliminate it from the problem.

Regards

Kev

loady...those drivers only load with windows, when working at a dos level you wil have to use the nforce modified mtkflash because it interacts directly with the hardware in dos.

Thanks

Yep, i should have endured this as after several attempts i have read the firmware, mine for some reason had to select .3 to get it to read although the drive is plugged onto SATA1 !?!?.....anyways....over that hurdle now.....i keep getting errors with key drive patcher/extractor v1.1....it keeps saying cant run this application and reinstalling it may help ?? I double clicked the icon for it so i cant see where.how i need to install it...maybe its got corrupted but the sfv file seems to say its ok....does this app need to run in dos mode also ??

Awesome tut for flashing the firmware but im struggling to understand the ripping and burning of games part. Would someone be so kind to explain a few things?

Im having to use the WXripper method as my mobo wont let me see my xbox drive in windows so ive ripped my original Blazing angels Pal to my hard drive and i have the blazing anlgels pal SS from the dowloaded archive. So im left with blazing.iso and blazing angels ss.bin.

Ive loaded both into merger 1.3 and done the business and im left with the blaze.iso (7.5 gig) and blaze.dvd (29 bytes). Here are the questions smile.gif

1. Do i now have to do the iso builder thing in the extreme package or do i just burn straight away in clone ??

2. Ive read that differant PAL regions have differant SS's...how can i be sure ive used the right SS??

3. As my 360 drive is not veiwable in windows is there anyway i can get the SS of my original disc using just my PC??

4. If i get the answers to the above 3 questions and make a working backup, can i then make a backup of the backup just doing  a normal copy disc and would i have to use cdclone everytime or would nero or sonic do the job???

I hope ive made the questions clear..thanks in advance for any replies love.gif

1. Just burn with CLoneCD  latest version at 2.4x speed with the booktype set correctly
2. Make your own...its the only way to be sure.
3. No
4. Use CloneCD...
