And then what? U need 2 store ur fw on something.. Indeed, the floppy

what about my hard drive?  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sleeping.gif)

part 3:

CODE
So, when you booted to dos you can either insert a floppy disk with
mtkflash to get mtkflash running or you can put it on your harddrive and
boot it from there.
Now, type the following line in the command prompt: mtkflash r /m orig.bin
When you got the application on a:\, you should enter:
A:\mtkflash r /m orig.bin, but when it’s on the hard drive (which will be
another drive letter) just put that drive letter instead of A:\. (For example:
C:\MTKFlash\mtkflash r /m orig.bin)

Press enter, and the application should start. Now you can select SEC
master or SEC Slave, just select Master. The application should start
reading the flash, this will take a while. After it’s finished it will tell you to
reboot the system. (If you putted mtkflash on the Floppy disk it will put the
orig.bin there. If you installed mtkflash in, for example: C:\MTKFlash\ it will
put the .bin file there).

hey one problem. when you are writing the firmware back to the dvd drive, can you just do it while XP is on, or do you have to boot from the floppy again unplugging all you drives except the floppy and the 360 drive.

i get most of the tutorial except for a few details you left out.

a) Plug in 360 drive and power

cool.gif Boot the DOS floppy with mtkflash

c) dump firmware to PC

c) uplug the 360 drive ? and boot to windows back to normal

d) Open up KDX read your key from firmware you made copy it

e) patch the foros 360 firmware with your key

f) (confused) either boot with floppy with mtk flash ? or just flash it with same floppy in windows ?
and then write firmware

When the flashing is being done do we have to unplug everything except for floppy and 360 drive?

The only time we need windows is to patch the firmware with your key and so once we do that we can replace the firmware dump with the hacked (to play backups and has our unique key.)

it is a great guide for sure, just a few small details like i mentioned, what cables to plug in, when to plugem in. Also does the dvd rive it self still need to get detected in windows. i see no need for it aslong as we get the firmware on the mtks floppy in DOS and write the firmware from floppy. basically with mtks floppy we can read firmware get that info and then write back to it from floppy.

Hello i am from iran.i have Xbox360.i have some questins about hacking firmware and i hope you would amswer me.

1-Can we run Xboxs 360 games of all region systems(ntsc-uc,ntsc-j,pal)either original or backup dvd when we hack firmware of Xbox 360 Toshiba Samsung DVD ROM.

2-Is this matter same for xbox1?i mean that games of xbox1 in all 3 systems(either backup or original)can be run in xbox 360?and dose it matter if my xbox360 is ntsc-j.

3-Can we create the xtreme_proper.bin file with KDX version 1.2 or we should use KDX version 1.1 because KDX version 1.1 can not works on my pc and has error.
4-Does it damage if during reading DVD ROM firmware electrity goes off or pc gets shut down?or it just cause problem during writing on it?

5-If it happens and DVD ROM gets damaged can i fix it by replacing an original backup firmware?

6-As i understood xtreme_proper.bin is used for playing the Xbox 360 backup discs and Xtrm0800.bin is for geting backup from orginal discs when xbox360 DVD ROM is conected to the pc.so how can i create  Xtrm0800.bin and what is the difrence between creating Xtrm0800.bin xtreme_proper.bin?

7-Can we get backup with foros360 team WXRipper program insted of conecting Xbox 360 DVD ROM to pc for reading original dvd?

8-If i get backup with my own xbox 360 DVD ROM can it be played in another console?

9-Can Xbox 360 DVD ROM save both xtreme_proper.bin and Xtrm0800.bin on its firmware at the same time or when i have saved one of them on firmware of Xbox 360 DVD ROM and try to save the other one the first gets deleted?

10-How about Hitachi LG DVD ROMs? can I hack them in the same way?and if i can't when it will get possible?

1. No, it's not possible to play games from other regions by changing the firmware.
2. Same as above.
4. It is possible that it would be damaged while writing the firmware, but not when reading it.
5. It is possible that you could, but I do not know.
8. Only if that console is modified with the DVD firmware as well.
10. No, there is no hack for hitachis yet, but supposedly there will be one soon.
