THIS IS WHAT HACKING THE X360 IS ABOUT!! IF you want a linux machine just build one. Want a media center.. Build one, Want mame.. install it on your PC. Hacking the 360 is SIMPLY about hacking. No matter if it's linux, or mame or XBMC or making the firmware play DVD+R DL or anything. THis is part of hacking. Information.

Umm, no.  This is PIRACY.  Hacking and piracy are not one and the same.  One can be an elite hacker and have no interest in piracy.  One can be interested in piracy with no interest in hacking.  A prime example is the one that originally said he found a way into the DVD firmware, but expressed no interest in releasing it because it was solely going to be used for piracy.  Many top hackers have good moral character.  They are interested in hacking because it is all about puzzles and solutions, much like others are interested in building Lego sets.

This hack has accomplished nothing for homebrew and everything for piracy.  It is what it is.

HAHAHA!

There are already three broken XBox 360s on eBay... funny that someone would be auctioning a $300 console for $20 when it should be under warranty and MS has been repeatedly making good on fixing their bugs.

I guess we know why these are on eBay... hahaha!  Torx wrench + 360 = BRICK!!

Is not completely piracy , one of the 360 games should have a flaw and enable unsigned code booting.  wink.gif

Awesome!!!!!!!!!! Homebrew here we come!!!!

No we don't. For now  biggrin.gif

BTW, you can use this to switch between the SS reading firmware and the original/hacked firmware. Nice smile.gif

Wouldn't it be possible to piggyback more chips too?

dont really see the point. once MS updates via live your screwed anyways from using the hacked firmware at all, online or not.  Only way to be safe is never go online but then why would u need to switch from original to hacked firmware in the first place.

Let's see what devil360 has to offer.

Insane.. this is getting there, I got an idea for that guy on page 3 or so.. Use a DPDT switch and pull 5v off the drives power cable and use a dual color LED (with resistor) to show what bank is selected, oddly enough it would be pretty damned easy... And also this could be used to fix a bad drive if you have a spare samsung, the original SST with a bad flash, the key and a lot of time... what im wondering now, couldnt per say you flash the SST with an old aladdin programmer and a chip? being that its the same technology for getting a BIN on the chip.. if anyone could confirm that would be great cause I for one have a TON of these chips laying around...and if you are looking to get one of the SST's check the new XENO FX's they might have that chip on there and there are a few places that have em.

Now would it be possible to had a sata plug on the back of the xbox 360 to plug a sata lead into from your computer and have a switch that changes were the sata lead goes (eg switch one way and the laed goes to the xbox sata port. Switch the other and the lead from the dvd goes to a sata port on the back)

If this was possible then we could use one drive in the xbox 360 with the xrtm0800.bin on one st flash chip and the xtreme.bin on the other and plug a sata lead into the back and power the dvd from the xbox to make backup without having to open the xbox 360 up everytime we wanted to back a game up.

Im on my way to maplin now to get some stuff to have a look at making the sata port switch possible........................

If anyone want to help me with this idea we could start a new tread but im sure this is a easy mod.

LJ says he can triple and quad hacks now. Triple i see the point, but why quad? theres only 3 firmwares available (hacked, SS, original). unless one is for backup.

In theory, the only limit to how many chips there is, is clearance in the case, and a big enough switch.

Also, theres a company out there that makes dual PLCC sockets and are pcb mount.. this would be pretty cool to modify as well to have a switch... ie. pull pins 15 out and solder a wire to each pin 15 to the resistors...

Everybody seems to forget that you need to reflash the firmware when you want to play another game. EVERYTIME you want to play another back-up game you have to use the firmware with the right SS (Security Sector) for that disc. If you have 4 firmwares then you can switch between 4 different games without reflashing.

The 3rd frimware that you guys keep mentioning is only used once to get the unique key from your drive. Once you have it you have no use for the firmware.

Who told you that. The security sectors are on the discs. Not on the firmware.
