How to Install a Dualboot Homebrew Firmware Mod on the TS–H943 DVD drive-- Posted by XanTium on May 17 00:45 EST
Iriez sent us a tutorial written by LittleJonny of Team Cavern Imports: "How to install a dualboot homebrew mod on a 360 DVD rom - The TightMod360 (v0.43DA)".
It explains how you can piggyback a SST39sf020a flashrom onto the Xbox360 TS-H943 DVD drive, so you have 2 firmwares chips on the drive and you can easily switch (for example) between the original DVD firmware and Commodore4Evas Xtreme firmware for the TS-H943 Xbox 360 DVD drive.

Download the PDF tutorial here.

Wow.... pretty neat

Just imagine what we'll see in 4 weeks as far as firmware modchips, FW and other programs.   Bringing things closer to being super user friendly and practical.

i still wish the firmware hack woulda never been found.........Yes it will be nice for backups but piracy is gonna be all this does...it will prolly slow down the research for getting by MS security....Personally i would love to love linux on the 360 along with most ppl on here and well it just kinda sucks that mods such as the DVD firmware hack are slowing mods that are moral down....o well

hmm... maybe a setup to disable network port also.  Better to keep system off Xbox Live when evil firmware is in use.  We don't know yet how MS will respond to the firmware.

this is the homebrew version i made to give something back to the scene.  We are going to make a quick solder version with external programmer and 3-4 banks etc in a few weeks.  Jumba and i are just arguing over the final design for the pcb. pop.gif

Cool. This was said to be possible, now it is proven... beerchug.gif

<speculation>My main thing though, is if MS$ attacks this, it will probably be through the dashboard (which is always running at some level, like a true OS), so it won't matter if you are connected to Live or not, as long as you have the new Dash you will get banned or receive errors, etc. So this might not have a real practical use in the end...</end speculation>

Maybe we can incorporate some sort of electric relay switch powered by the USB Bus to cut the network connection when we are running modded firmwares.
