Xtreme Xbox 360 firmware Modified to Work with KeyDrive Patcher/Xtract
« Reply #30 on: May 16, 2006, 04:16:00 PM »

I stumbled upon this firmware earlier today. I'll have to find out what drive I have on my 360. Not sure I want to try this out for at least a couple months. I'm not sure if the May dashboard update (coming soon) will cause a nice banning on Xbox 360's with this hack.

I don't want to buy a new 360. I have the ppf in hand, pondering the idea...

sure, you can flash your hitachi alllllll day long. after that, you should go learn how to read.

In order to avoid drama I have chosen not to insult your intelligence because clearly that would be a tacky thing for me to do, so extend me that courtesy as well. Someone else posted in this post that it was popssible to extract the key and apply it to a different DVD-ROM considering that (apparently) the stock DVD-ROM only operates in the XBOX that it originated from. It is confusing reading half of these posts (like urs) that speak of contradictory vices, and smart ass comments. But then again, it speaks volumes of you as a person. RU fat by any chance?

It is called "proper" because the dvd key area was zero'd the way it should be for a blank firmware. The word is used a lot in the release world meaning different things. It wasn't an insult to commodore4eva.

I know its used a lot in the scene but it usually means "somebody fucked up their release so we did it properly". If you think that a blank firmware should have a blank key that's your opinion.
My main critizism was rather that they apparently couldn't code their tool to work on the original release. Or that they didn't want to edit it cause that shows how pointless it was to release it in the first place.

Yes nice tutorials are a good thing but its also dangerous to let noobs try this at the current state. Anybody can figure it out from the instructions out there, I'm just saying that there should be a entry limit right now. Otherwise there's be plenty of bricked drives or damaged 360's.

"It makes sense for the more technically skilled and informed of us on here to make things simpler for the masses, it's cuts down on the forum posts if nothing else."

I don't consider myself technically skilled. I don't find myself flashing drive firmware on a daily basis. I can, however, read. Anyone who can't understand it simply needs to read the readme again, or learn to read properly.

I am not able to find this in "the usual place". Is it available for download yet or am I a tad bit over-eager?

In a perfect world yes, but all that will happen is that you will see continuous threads asking for help, it helps if you can point them to an FAQ.

Just sick of people asking the same questions when all the information is readily available. I'm not sure what weight has to do with anything, but no, I'm not fat.

My understanding was that they coded that app with real firmware files (virgin). It had a practical application before this hack came out (building Samsung firmwares using a given drive key - like for swapping a hitachi for a sammy, etc.) Basically they edited Xtreme's to fit the correct, or "proper", parameters so their tool would work with it. That just makes sense. Why create a new tool, that works differently, just to work with the Xtreme release? Makes more sense to just "fix" the Xtreme release to me...  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

Again, remember their is a language barrier here too. I didn't get it at all, based on everything I have seen/read, that they were trying to steal credit or demean the Xtreme release in anyway...  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

As far as an "entry level", I guess I can agree with that to some extent... I just think it is a good thing for the community to organize information/thoughts in tutorials and guides instead of pages upon pages of forum posts sandwiched in-between ridiculous pointless repetative questions and/or speculation...

Does anyone think that M$ will make games that flash the firmware? Even with the danger that power loss during the flash can render the xbox360 useless? I want to do this, but I dont want to regret it later. I can definitely live without xbox live!.

Which file do we apply the ppf to?

xtreme.BIN
or
xtrm0800.bin

I'm 99% sure its the xtreme.BIN, but just wanted to confirm this

it is the xtreme.BIN you have to patch.
question for you to extract the key can i use KDX 1.0 instead of 1.1

KDX1.0 must work too, but KDX1.1 has a lot of aditional protections for patch the key.

On the other hand, we DON'T WANT steal credits from commodore4eva, the hack is made by him, and we respect a lot his work. Without this great hacker, we couldn't boot backups in XBOX360, and his work is the best work that I have ever seen.

So, if u read this, commodore4eva, u will always be a F360TEAM good friend.
