It's risky even posting on these boards right now, hell, even viewing them, let alone advertising this. Who knows what MS$ response will be. They certainly have the $ to track down and prosecute people if they wanted too...

Chance of bricking a drive? Uh, who knows. No one has posted about bricking one yet...

I wouldnt bother advertising just yet.  As you can see I did and it got closed after I asked HSD if it was okay.  Doth bother just yet.  Lets see the policy of posting that will come out in a day or two.

When and if we deem it acceptable to post services offering to chip or mod a DVD drive, it wil only be allowed in the XS sales forums/modchip installers forums.

Right now.. we are holding off on allowing it. A final decision will be made by Friday.

personally i dont think it should be allowed  on this site, it would only be proof that xbs condones this type of illegal-non-homebrew behavior and is a trading ground. it could be the straw that broke the camels back

I don't think XBS should allow the selling of modified 360 DVD drives, because the majority of people would use it for piracy. If you want to back your games up that badly, then go ahead and learn.

heard of legal backups? not everyone who mods something does it exclusivly for piracy, if this was a mod chip and allowed homebrew just as many people would use it for piracy, so i don't agree with your arguement. xbox had homebrew from the start essentially, but psx and ps2 both had modchips with no homebrew for a long time, and there was legal back ups going on, and piracy going on. it depends on the people who use the hacks. ultimately, its up to whatever the mods/admins decide, but i know where i personally stand and will support whatever they decide wether i agree with it or not

don't worry about seeing premodded drives for sale. don't forget, each drive has a key that matches up with the mother board. it has to be done on a 360 by 360 basis since you can't just flash 10, sell them, and have people snap 'em in.

In my opinion, I dont care what some company says, if I BUY it, I OWN it, plain and simple.

i don't know about that, while i agree sites like you mentioned will probably exist, i doubt they will be very successful. i tend to think anyone who would even consider paying for a preflashed drive wouldn't be compitent enough to get their own keys. and on the ebay issue, the xbox 1 firmware hack has been out for quite a while now, and those are simple plug and play drives, and those aren't on ebay.

and at the person saying you don't own your 360, i paid the $400 dollars, i own my 360. ms owns the patents and copyrights, but my 360 is mine. the "and your parents don't really own a house" comment, i'm assuming your talking to people who rent? my parents own a house and the deed/title proves it.
