well he's right, it's not about how to hack the firmware, It's about what to do with it once someone releases it. not dissing on the site, but to "hack" something is to actually edit it from the original itself to make it work, not just flashing your drive with a hack that someone else made.

It just depends on how people define 'hack' then isn't it. Thats the trouble with most people, something good and informative comes along so they after split hairs and find faults. Just seems a little stupid that somebody has to find fault with the wording of something which doesn't make much of a difference.

dood, I said I wasn't dissing on the site, simply saying that the title was misleading, as was the other guy. He was simply saying the same thing, and someone else was giving him crap just because he stated something other than "you are awesome, I want to have your babies." The site's informative. I never said anything bad about it. just defending the guy that was getting crapped on.

He's trying to find simpler methods of flashing firmware to the drive and is in the process of testing out different methods which he mentioned on his site.

how is it simpler?  what is he trying? oh yea nothing new.

i can flash any of my 4 x 360 drives with out building a damn thing or soldering at all. i have 2 x samsung drives and 2 x hitachi. I personally think alot of people are wasting alot of time building all this stuff if you are just looking for a one time flash to your firmware. which most people just want to flash the hack and be done with it.

I can see the use if you are trying to hack the drive because you would be flashinig and testing many things on the drive and it would be shitty having to power it from your 360 the whole time.

i do have some problems with his wording like
QUOTE
so thought i would put it to good use and show my findings on getting this hack started.

his findings?  that is funny a statement. what did he find exactly? oh a couple websites that contained 360 information then he recompiled the information here. he does link to these sites which is good because everything on his site is from theirs. (with the exception of the early anandtech deconstrutction tutorials)

his download of memdump also cross links to kev.nu site which i think is kind of rude since he does have ads on his site and is making money from this. why can't he host it.

the hack word is also misused. he isn't hacking. he is monkey see monkey doing. i will call it MSMD.

All that said i think this will help noobs get their drive ready for flashing and get them away from the serious discussions with stupid questions. So i think he is doing a service there but he is misrepresenting some things with his wording to make himself sound smarter or make his blog more attractive.

if it said dump your firmware guide. it wouldn't be as grabing. its like he is marketing the site to try to make money from ads.

if you think i am too cynical or a little crazy. fuck yea i am.

also the his forum makes me laugh a little inside.

If you like the site and find it usefull then good for you. use the information for your understanding but don't beleive him when he tells you he is hacking or working on something new.

Peace,
BlueCop

I think though that what you've posted here is EXACTLY what people ARE looking for, and as it is not available in a friendly format anywhere, sites like this will spring up offering the (false?) hope of an easy to follow guide.

It's not helped by the fact that even for those willing to give it a go by learning themselves there is little or no help available for the non programmer / non "hacker", one such post on xboxhacker.net was answered by the advice to "go and learn assembly", which is a little excessive for those that just are looking for an easy way to protect the investment in games they've made for their 360

I have to agree 100% with BlueCop. The choice of words is misleading.

Who knows, maybe he's planning on gathering all the information and showing people how to hack their firmware.

He might want to document how to use assembley to edit the code in the firmware, compile and encrypt it ready to flash back to the drive.

Hi

I have just added a section on making a full game dump using wxripper.

Im not sure what some people on here are tring to get at. All im doing is testing out all these fantastic efforts by all the hackers out there, that are trying to get these hacks working. I am then testing them and finding out which tools are the simplist to use for those with less technical know how.

This is what i meant by "my findings". I have never claimed that any of this work is my own and always given credit to where credit is due (if i miss anyone, please post it in the sites forum and ill be happy to in-clude it).

As for the title, when it is finished the site will provide anyone a simple guide in hacking thier own drive, but as for know its a work in progress.

NEW BIT

Its now hosted off my site. Was only a 17k file. Didnt think it would make much difference. I did already host the bigger downloads from my own site.

The ads are there to pay for the hosting. Google ads dont make a lot of money but at least it keeps websites like this free.

I never said i was working on anything new. I have stated from the begining that i am waiting till a hack got released to finish the tutorial. The only new things are when i find out there is a better way of doing somthing or someone releases somthing new.
