I would like to know more about this "switch" to disable/enable the hack. My guess all along would have been a blank firmware chip that was basically a "DVD drive modchip". You would solder this on to the DVD drive's circuit board with a switch. When enabled, it would load the hacked firmware from your "DVD drive modchip" and when disabled, it would load the normal firmware from the on-board chip. This is what I thought all along, but there may just be an easier way? I just want to know more about this "switch". I, like most people, won't be doing this hack if it requires a second Xbox 360 or it means it can't be disabled for Live. Thanks Team Xecuter for what you've done and the progress you have made. Keep working on this, we can't wait for it. Details on the switch would be nice. Thanks.

I think this mod will be great for homebrew.
Once M$ releases the cheaper Devkits The people at XBMC can start on a 360 project.(hint, hint)

And Team Xecuter, you guys rock!
I can't wait to see how this mod evolves into.

But I got a question, does this mod remove the disk security to you can load any 360 software? if so, then homebrew could be loaded also right?

no, you still can't run unsigned media.

(xecuter said other teams are making good progress) , they are releasing some tools that will be useful IF a hack is ever released and so will lots of other ppl. Half the ppl here think xbmc will be running on the 360 when xecuter releases a pc adaptor!

wow, you are really a thick headed douche, this site is not all about pirating. maybe if you did a little more searching around the site, you would find more things to read about then modding your box to play your "back ups". every person i know that has a chip in there xbox uses it for back up purposes. i bet ever person on this site that owns originals backs them up. so next time ass-cunt do some research before you go out and label a site.

a post earlier said how it'd be a bad idea for them to put a date on it. their right. first, the hack itself as xecuter said is not dependant on them, since they are not doing it. second, the minute they put a date on it, all they are gonna hear is "are you gonna meet the deadline", then, if something happens, everyone is gonna wanna string em up cuz they didnt.

and i would assume everyone involved in getting the "accessories" out and the hack are doing the best they can to do so in order to beat ms to the punch, since all the info is out there.

Toshiba/Samsung Toshiba-Samsung are partners now. Thier are only two dvd-rom drives for the xbox360 the hitatchi and Toshiba-Samsung.
