I have a feeling they're going to start laying the smackdown on people with "King Kong Kiosk Demo" in their gamerprofiles.
Outch, yeah, I'd be careful with that. Pull the network cable and your storage device before trying this...
It just seems strange to me that MS would go to such lengths to secure this system, and have a flag that will allow the console to run (albeit SIGNED CODE) from an UNPRESSED disc. Seems like a HUGE hole in their security system... What were they thinking here? I was surprised as hell when I found out you could download and burn a disc with the updates required for backward compatability.
It sounds like the HD-WMV is, right now, the most promising thing comming out of this, but in the right hands, lets hope this turns into something a bit bigger.

I would like some clairification... the xex itself is signed code by MS, but there is a flag INSIDE the xex that allows it to run off a burnt disc? So, if you change the flag inside the xex, the checksum (or whatever security is there) causes the signature of that xex to no be longer valid, causing the executable not to run? Is that correct?
