Non Media Check 360 Disc Discovered

*** YES YOU CAN BURN THIS ISO AND PLAY IT IN YOUR XBOX-360 ***
MS left us with this blanket statement:
"Xbox 360 retail kiosks have started arriving at retailers.
Due to the nature of the distribution process, not all kiosks
are hitting simultaneously, but are continuing to pop up in
retailers across the country in the coming weeks.
The kiosks are designed for a retail environment and feature
game samples, game trailers and product information."
Team Pi leaves you with this Pillow statement:
"It seems MS was in such a hurry to get this stuff out
that they forgot to set the media protection on this disc.
This leaves hackers with the posibility to hack around with
this disc that load from a normal DVDR5 backup! - Team Pi
also notes that the all datafiles on this disc isn't signed in
any way, and will allow for extensive modification for producing
exploits to further our efford to hack this box!"
Playable (hackable) games on this disc:
Call of Duty 2, Hexic, Kameo, King Kong.
Also includes lots of game and accessory demos in video format.
Nothing ripped, just foreign videos were downsampled to fit
        onto a normal DVDR5!
      ÚÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄ¿
      ³Û²±°      SPECIAL NOTE         _ __/     /  / /\____ __ _  °±²Û³
      ÀÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÙ
YES you can run this! Burn the iso, put it into your xbox and
be very amazed... Next, think of the posibilities of hacking
this little demo disc that we might start running code on
        the retail xbox 360's !
So the second task is done. We hope this encourages all hackers,
coders and crackers out there to take up the challenge.
        Enjoy!

Special note to the Clear kids: Yes, we are old and lazy, and no,
we are not going to do some scene war against you. Life is too
short for that, and our dicks are allready large enough

        Keep up the hard work!
Pi Putting the 360' Spin on the Xbox :-)

EDIT:

Doesn't help anyone get around the signing though...  So I am not sure just how useful this will be?

EDIT2: Just re-read it, it says they aren't signed??? If this is even possible, does that mean you could just remove the signatures altogether from existing originals?

Hmm, hope to get it from somewhere ;D
We should keep a list of kernel versions it runs on, as I'm pretty sure that MS WILL release a patch via XBL to prevent that disk running on home machines. Kiosks propably aren't connected to XBL, and they are authorized to use the disk so they don't need to be updated.

E: Furious Devil, be sure to report about if it works wink.gif Because this disk *may* be our key to future smile.gif

This is good news. I think it will open the door for lots of utils and the likes. I dont think it will be able to boot games but it may open the door for ftp tools hdd file managers. it might even open up let you access the hdd so that we can upgrade to sommit a little bigger than 20gig. It might also let us copy 007 gamesave exploits etc and hack the emulation.

There are too many if's and but's, Only time will tell if we can get the scene rocking. M$ will prob also do a kernel and dash update to nip this in the bud if it looks promissing

krayzie is right you canmt just go ripping files and adding them to the disk the files on a retail game are still signed.  But for some people the release of this disk will hold some useful information.  The dvd firmware people will find this interesting for watching how the dvdrom behaves when the disk is inserted.  Whilst it may not prove to be the shot that slays the monster it will no doubt proviude some useful info to the right people.

Strip all the undesirable stuff from there, replace a certain WMV-HD video with a WMV-HD video of your choise, burn it to DVD+RW and voilá, you've just turned your x360 to a standalone HDTV player that doesn't require that bloody MCE.

As I understand, this disc was signed but they forgot to turn the DVD+/-R flag off. So we can burn it onto a recordable dvd media.
Hopefully we find a "hole" to exploit smile.gif

Wait, how is it booting unsigned code?

Ah, that makes more sense.  Now we would be really lucky if one of the game demo executables on the disc wasn't signed, then maybe they could be replaced with another unsigned executable and launched from the demo disc, but that's probably really doubtful.

Next person to mention they are getting it, have it, downloading it, torrents, or anything regarding it will be banned.  I am serious.
