right...so, do they? i have a long list of cute little characters, but as soon as i load a song with one of them activated, it resets to my dash.

 Do you have the bones file(s)?

I only ask cuz I've had no problems with characters (Master Chief Vs Mr Hanky is pretty cool!), but I had to install some bone file thingys.

I've also noticed that using too many additions (a ton of songs, animations, announcers, etc.) can cause the game to crash fairly quick.

Is there a good central place to find Stepmania stuff, or am I pretty much stuck googleing and just bouncing from site to site to find little things?

I have like 2100 songs for stepmania, but I'm wondering how many would go onto the xbox version and still allow it to run ok. I think I'm just going to make one mix and include all the songs in it from each mix, not adding any repeats.

I find the links off the Stepmania official site are good for finding whatever you need. Keep looking.
I think having a lot of songs in 1 mix might hurt performance and stability, but I'm not sure.
