I have updated my own Xenon with XBR3 to FreeBoot 12611 without problems, but then my friend came along and wanted me to do the same to his Jasper 512 jtag box. The problem is that while I jtagged mine myself and therefore had my original NAND, he bought his xbox already jtagged and didn't get any files at all with it.
I've been reading and searching alot about upgrading to freeboot the last days and everyone always says to use the "original NAND backup", that we don't have for his.
Is it safe to dump the current XBR NAND (full 512mb dump with Flash360) and use it as a base for creating the freeboot NAND with "freeBOOT ToolBox Maker26" ?
As I haven't done his jtag I have no idea how the soldering is done. Do I need to open it up and check if its using the AUD CLAMP / SMC solder points or can I just use freeboot toolbox maker to create the updflash.bin file without thinking about that?
Anything else to think about when doing an xbox with 256/512mb NAND?
Thank you
i'm pretty certain that you cannot go from xbr/8955 to fB/12611.
goog for xbr/8955 to fB/9199, i'm pretty certain that there are really straightforward tuts to do this.
once you're on fb/9199, then dump fB/9199 and use that in fBTBM26 to make youre fB/12611 image.
