Make It Clear: Why The New Freeboot In Some Case Dosen't Work
« on: November 14, 2010, 12:04:00 PM »

Ok, i have made many reasearch on various forums. It seem that the new freeboot give various error (black screen, E79) on the jasper with badblock,  and the error depend from where the BB is.
It seem a problem limited to the jasper 16M or the maybe the 16M southbridge 2.3 and CB 6723, someone could be able to confirm which of these.

Now hope for a fix

 Jasper 16mb, CB 6723, SB 2.3

Created a few images from orig/XBR/FB 0.32 and all fail at splash screen. It just hangs there displaying the XBOX 360 logo.

Used fbBuild, EasyFB and BestPigs FBToolbox.

Can boot Xellous though so I can recover always.

Bad block in NAND @ 154, Xellous seems to remap to 3E0. Tried manually remapping to 3FF with Nandpro, still the same hang at boot.

Hope somebody can help.

Thank for that! it worked a treat. I ran the program over the 12611 image created by FreeBOOT Toolbox 0.04 and then update via Flash360. It now boots into the DASH fine!.
Thanks for all your help, and the help of the community in whole.  biggrin.gif

I've got a Jasper512 (SMC 2.3, CB6723) and I can't the new freeboot to work.

I've built it with fbBuild 0.11 and Bestpig toolbox 25r2 and after flashing with Flash360, I can't even get Xellous up.

I've got a few bad blocks and I always have to manually flash block10 to FF8 when installing Xellous with Nandpro, but in the past Flash360 has always successfully remapped the bad blocks when flashing.

My bad blocks are at 0x0002 (mapped to 0x1FF), 0x000D, 0x0036, 0x01A4 (mapped to 0x1FC). In Nandpro terms, the first three (the ones in the 16MB area) are 10, 68 and 1B0.
