You sort of missed my point, although I could have been more specific
I was saying that he may at least *look into* some of the games that are running slow, in order to try and locate any system-wide issues (memory leaks, tweaks, etc) just to see if there is anything that *could* be done. If you are familiar with Xport's work, you would know that he is very good at debugging and optimizing code to get the most horsepower out of the Xbox
Of course no one is expecting him or anyone else to look into the entire MAME set and try and optimize each game! But a game here and there might be possible, especially since there are really only like 20-30 games that run slow that the majority of the community would like to see better. Even if that happened most people would be happy... It certainly will NEVER happen if people are negative about the release and VMM implementation.
I am just saying I would rather see the project move forward (working on improvements/new cores), not backward by working on an old core (just because *right now* it runs some games faster)... That is my opinion.
If at some point Xport and Noodle decide that it is *impossible* to go any further due to hardware limitations, and the only solution is to revert to an old core and "cutoff support", then we can certainly live with it. But let's not make those decisions for them, since they obviously know more about what can/cannot be done than any of us
