WinUAEX Amiga Emulator port for XBox v5

What's New:

- Optimized some things here and there to increase framerate about 5 FPS.

- Fixed a bug that would sometimes cause crashes during screenshot creation.
(Affected save-states also because save states are now saved with
  a screenshot.)

- Added predefinitions for Amiga 500, Amiga 1200, Amiga 1200-AGA and CD32.
The new option is called "Select Machine Defaults" from the game
  configuration menu.

- If you have "Always Display Save State Menu" and "Autoload most recent save state"
enabled simultaneously, you will no longer be presented with the state selection
  menu at bootup.

- Fixed bug where screenshots for save states were not being displayed
on save state menu when the screenshot directory and save game
directory are on different volumes.  Screenshots that are created
with save states should only appear on the save/load state menus.
They should not appear in your regular screenshots directory
and should not appear on the game-selection menu with the normal
  screenshots.

- Added option to disable screenshots with save states

- Fixed some invalid chars and network issues

- If you had the option to always bring up the Save/Load state menu
on and you tried to save/load a state from the Game Utilities menu
you would be presented with the save/load state menu twice.  This
is fixed.  ( People using the Game Utilities menu to save/load states
should probably turn off the "Always show save/load state menu"
option from the General Configuration settings.)

- New option to change controller port devices during gameplay from
  in-game options menu.

- Video device is recreated when you change the flicker filter level so you
do not have to reboot to see the effect.

You the man x-port!

It's good to see the screen save fixed though, that was an especially tough bug because there was no way to avoid it if you used saved states.

Now I just gotta wait till next week to send it to my xbox.

I like the default machines thing to.  Just takes alot of the work out of changing settings, although I have them memorized.

Thank you again Xport ! smile.gif

BTW, does the FPS increase fixes the slight hiccup seen in scrollers (every 2/3 seconds)? Did someone test this?

Another question to Xport: as you know, putting the Xbox in 50Hz PAL mode dramatically improves the smoothness of the scrollers and the display in general. Since it seems that switching from NTSC to PAL is not easy without fiddling with the EEPROM settings, I was wondering if there was a way to tweak the emulator code so the 60hz display is as smooth as the 50Hz one.

I remember the good old days when I was using a simple CLI command to switch my PAL Amiga to 60hz, so the games were taking the whole screen. Sometimes the music was accelerated since the coders where using the vsync as a timer for the modules routines, but the scrollings smoothness was never reduced by a 60Hz display. So I guess this is not a machine limitation, but an UAE implementation issue instead in the PC version. Do you think a fix for the Xbox version could be considered?

Anyways, thank you so much for all the good old memories WinUAEX brought me back wink.gif

Bye

Is there a site with config settings for various games? Some still give me the guru message, some crash in other odd ways, and I'd rather take advantage of others' trial-and-error than spend the time myself smile.gif

Great work. Thank You, Xport.

I wonder if porting AROS to XBox would be difficult.

quote:
AROS is a portable and free desktop operating system aiming at being compatible with AmigaOS 3.1, while improving on it in many areas. The source code is available under an open source license, which allows anyone to freely improve upon it.

They are writing AmigaOS source from scratch (since 1995, when MorphOS and AmigaOS4.0 didn't exist), and nowadays results are impressive. Of course, AROS boots natively on PC (x86) machines.

Nice distro with some contrib stuff added (Quake port, etc.)
http://www.nobodynet...2fa.rar.torrent

Well, AROS on Xbox would be quite useless (to be honest - it is useless also on PC - out-dated and lacking software support), but... it would be great  to run native Amiga-like OS on MS Box :)))

XPort/WinUaeX developer.
I have a small problem getting my mouse (Type: BENQ, wireless USB)
to work with WinUaeX. I have no problem with the BENQ keyboard.
I have tested another mouse (Logitech Mx-700) this worked.  wink.gif
When I'm running GentooX Linux on my box, both the BENQ mouse and keyboard is working fine.
My request is: Is it possible to add additional mouse support in WinUaeX...?
...or should i go and buy me another mouse  biggrin.gif

Thanx anyway for one more fantastic emulator from XPort!

I really need to sit down and spend some time with this new version...

...been too busy over the past couple of weeks. Sounds good from the docs. Your GBA updates are awsome too!

AROS would definatly be awsome to have a port of, no doubt it would be better than Linux ANY day, but as the other guy says...

...no apps. It is after all, unfinished, but looking better every day. Perhaps in about 4 years it would be fully worthy of a port...

...in the mean time it would be interesting to see Amithlon booting on the box.
