Forza 3 Disc 2 Install, Any Potential For Exploit?
« on: November 02, 2009, 01:14:00 PM »

As far as I know, Forza Motorsport 3 is the only XBOX 360 game to disable the auto-exit-to-dash that happens when hitting eject. It does this when it asks you if you want to install the content from Disc 2. Is there any potential there for some sort of exploit?

Seems promising but Microsoft is extremely careful with things like this. In other words there will be little or no room to work with. Remember, that part of the disc is most likely encrypted and can't be edited.

AH! no

If someone can think of it on this forum.. Microsoft has as well and has taken steps to block any room for exploit.

What is the point of this response? You provide no proof. You also state that, basically, anything that anyone here can think of is already impossible. Great logic. Remember folks, nothing is possible. Stop thinking outside the box, since it's inside another box.

Microsoft did a very good job with the system security of the 360 and this is not a possible exploit method.

Even if the system does not reset on reject as the games executable is signed and a single bit of data that changes breaks that signature how are you going to exploit this no-reset-on-eject??

You have no way to load other code or another disk so its a pointless avenu to explore without some other form of exploit or weakness to act off.

The number of "OMG POSSIBLE EXPLOIT" topics that have been posted from the launch date of the 360 would show you how bad some of these ideas are.

So there take my comments as you like but I will say again this is a dead end and wont lead to anything.

All is about encryption.
I think, that every disc should identify itself with some signed/encrypted information before is being copied.
And bruteforcing of these information is f*cking hard (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

Ouch shot down.

Never hurts to explore and think of new ideas in my opinion.  Sure it would be hard etc or impossible but so what.  It's better to say something or explore an idea than just sit there on your fat butt.

Most of the exploits, hacks etc came about because of some other person exploring or wondering these very same sort of things about something once upon a time.

It was posed as a question.  To answer your question sir, no I can't think of anything personally.
