How To Prevent 4552 Dashboard Update

QUOTE(segaboys @ Apr 12 2007, 08:42 AM) *

I recently sold a launch motherboard on Ebay I lost the key for, boy do I feel stupid now..... I needed the money but now it seems more valuable.  Is the NAND an off the shelf item or is the only source a 360 motherboard?

One question with the dual NAND solution, if you have it installed and it is switchable from one NAND to the other, what happens when you go from updated NAND to and unpatched one and the HDD is still connected. Does the xbox prompt that it needs to be updated when you restart and the HDD is still attached?

Maybe that was your broken 360 i bought... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

I believe you can use another flash, as long as it has the same/similar specs to the original NAND.  I dont know of one off hand but i have seen it mentioned on xbh.

Once you update the one NAND to 4552, you need to remove the updates from the hdd.  If you dont, it will try to make you update again (from what i have read).  I havent gotten to that point yet but will soon.  I've been lacking the motivation to finish it up but will someday.

Any word on this list that tells which games update your dash?  I can't find it on 360gamesaves.

I have the strange feelings that older games are re-edited and have upgrade requirement now.

So, for retail games, it's over. Just consider they will all upgrade to 4552 or more.

In practice, if a game asks for an upgrade, reject the offer and put it aside.

Is there a LINK to the games that we can play that won't upgrade to 4552 and above?

That way we can all be aware which games we can and can't play if we want linux on 360.

Maybe a Sticky can be made with Games that have which upgrade on them.

Well after searching around it appears that any game that came out after Feb. 20th 2007 has the 4552 update.  So far I have found these games that contain the update (feel free to add to my list):

Tetris Evolution
Def Jam Icon
Rayman - Raving Rabbids
Crackdown
Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2
NBA Street
TMNT

I dont know if I have completely misunderstood this. But is this update a problem for me, running a software-modded xbox with no other hacks done. I have only flashed my dvd-rom to play backups. I've tried reading the forum to check what all the problem seem to be, but Im not yet sure. Ive only heard that there i supposed to be some kind of update that makes the "hacking" of the xbox360 useless.

Removing files from a backup image and adding the security sector to it doesn't seem to cause it to stop working.  Not saying this will work 100%  I have had some of my own made backups to not work after removing the updates from them, but most worked flawless.  Take your chances I say.

Hope this helps.

Adding the security sector?

If the image already got a security sector?
