I'm Gonna Try To Bust The Container Encryption
« on: November 26, 2006, 05:51:00 PM »

LMAO i love it!!!

you are going to brute force the 2048bit encryption key??? The one that would take thousands of years to crack using the most advanced supercomputers on the planet???

Do you even know anything about the key used on these files???

AND you dont know how to tell if youve cracked it, so you cant be the most accomplished hacker around lol.

Please do not post silly stuff like this as many people have already dismissed the idea.

The only way i could see anything like this happening, is if everyone on the planet who has a computer, tried to crack there own bit of the code! and even then it would still take ages!

This is not the way to go, try looking into another method (probably be more benficial going the hardware route).

P.S if this sounded like i was flaming you, then im sorry, but a little reading and searching would put you straight on this matter and would of saved you the time of making this thread.

well lets just say im one of those guys who would leave my comp on for a week while trying it. get the program going and give me the file and tell me how to do it and i'll leave my comp on for a week...maybe longer.

yea...i didnt know it was a 2048bit key...

ok by hardware route, please explain

You don't understand.  Cracking the 2048 bit key using current techniques and current technology would take more than 100 billion years....and at the current power consumption of a personal computer....it would require the power off 100 suns to crack the code.  It's not simply that we don't have enough people....its that it's 2048 bit for a reason....because it will never be cracked.  We will probably never see a 4196 bit key in our lifetimes, because 2048 bit will be plenty for even military encryption.

Anybody know if the classic key is also used to sign 360 executables?

why don't make a program that interacts with almost the entire xbox hacking community that every computer get's somthing like code 1 - ... to check

won't it be possible to encrytpt the code then

ps: srry for my bad english having probs with spelling and if this idea is lame but it's just somthing that poped into my mind

It's possible....but once again read my previous post....if the hacking community consisted of 100 Trillion people.....it would take 100 Trillion years at the rate of current processing speed.

It took over 5 months to crack the 640-bit key for the RSA challenge with 30 computers working on it.  The 2048 bit key is 2^(2048-640)=7000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 times harder to crack that the 640 bit key.  Try telling me you still think that it's possible.

HOW the **** can you have a 2048 bit key with the value of 0

Just adding alot of 0's does not change the value of zero from zero.

Its basic math did they not teach you that at school?

Come on you guys. He said he was willing to leave his computer on for a whole week to try and bruteforce it. I think he is on to something. With a little luck and a fast CPU capable of hyperthreading and dual core I think this guy can do it! Post your PC specs!

The problem is that sarcasm is hard to detect when written like that.  The last part about posting PC specs is what makes it seem like he is being genuine (and retarded).
