Snes Emulator On Xbox 360 Video
« on: July 03, 2006, 12:00:00 PM »

Anybody else seen or read this:

It's not exactly opening a Stargate to worlds unknown but it sounds pretty exciting! Undertakencodes found the Holy Grail of Xbox 360 Homebrewers - a hole in the security of the emulator of Xbox. He says this hole makes it possible to load homebrew and backups without hardware/firmware modifications. As proof of concept, Undertakencodes developed a port of the Snes9x which loads on the Xbox 360 but is not playable at the moment.

Snes9x is a portable, freeware Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES) emulator. The emulator allows most games designed for the SNES and Super Famicom Nintendo game systems to run on PC or Workstation.

"I...hope that you believe me but homebrew already is possible in our Xbox 360s." Hey, they didn't believe Egyptologist Daniel Jackson when he said Stargate opens a can of universal worms. But you know what they say, once its open you can't hold back the door no more. Anyways, here is Undertakencodes video of the Xbox 360 loading the SNES Emulator:

the video:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8nkBKisEjVM&search=snes%20360

I originally found this on QJ.net.  Any thought on if this works for real?

It's playing on a windows media center 2005 and shown and controlled on the xbox 360.

This is NOT homebrew.

It's just a snes emulator running on his PC

Google for it if you want it or search on this forum.

Its been discussed, this vid is fake, its a video, as such the gamer profile connects to live, and under the emulator it doesnt. So the vid is fake, give it up.

1. the gamer profile signed in (everyones gamer profile signs in)
2. he wouldn't have signed into xbox live anyway cause there was no cable in the 360
3. its still possible

the way the xbox emulator works is that when you insert an xbox1 game, it reads the game name and checks it against a local database of things called a 'emulation-table' in which the game uses that to emulate the specific game. most likely, this guy is insanely insane and wrote a homebrew emulation-table to run xSnes9x - and obviously he barely knows what he's doing with these emulation-tables, and thats why he can only run the ROM straight through commandline, and thats why he has no menu.

as for running the snes9x xbe unsigned, he might be using a firmware hack or the emu-table can assign the emulator to run skip the signature check.

just my guess.
