Got An Idea That May Bust Us Some Homebrew Hehe
« on: May 16, 2006, 05:14:00 PM »

Havnt actually even tested this yet but dont lock its a coming.  Well i just orderd a copy of the disc off ebay (a legal one) I do own it but its scratched to hell.  Wont get it for a week im afraid.  So in the meantime i would like someone here to give me a complete file list of everything on it, and tell me in what way is the disc signed. (MS RSA key, any certain media keys)

For anyone who didnt read the description im talking about the xbox live arcade disc for the original xbox that was able to be put on burned cds.

hmm. interesting.
however, no unsigned code can boot

there is a thread abotu the disc somewhere on here..

however, all games are signed to say what media their on. so, it wont work
the firmware hack is much better then this as all ur gonna get booted is signed xbox games

the xbe is signed with a digital key, we cannot crack this key (whatever you are goign to say to this, the answer is still no, we cannot crack this key)

most xbes also have a media check that prevents them from running off of non retail (pressed) dvds, the xbox Live arcade (and 360 kiosk disc) are notably missing these checks, so they can run off of burned cd/dvd

the signature however, is still present, and still enforced on both of these discs, so the xbes/xexs cannot be modified in any way, and no homebrew (unsigned) apps can be loaded from them

alright thanks, this does make me worry a little bit but still id rather try than let any option be overlooked. And trust me i  understand the amazing strength of RSA encryption.

(oh and btw i know we couldnt crack the RSA key but our many thousandthXgrandchildren could laugh.gif

ur not gonna be able to do nothing man
its the only game on a cdr. all other games are signed for dvdr. this ones not

as soon as u touch the xbe it loses its signature and wont boot

the onlything u could do is try and get a softmod of some sort running

the only thing you coudl really do is create a compeltely new softmod, exploiting a buffer overflow in the Live Arcade or Ms PACMAN xbes, and if this was easy or possible i expect someone woudl have done it already

Lordvador i would really like to know how many xbes are on the disc (pacman, others), now dont flame about it not being able to do anything, i now have reason to beleive it may. I have been in touch with a few others on another forum and a few ideas have been bouncing around, ill go look for my copy now since im getting angry at snail mail.

Would this even work considering the fact that the disc isn't listed as backward compatible?
