Can you extract the file and the default.xex? What are their sizes, and what are their binary differences?

I wonder if this COD can be run from the kiosk disc, in which case you could rename the signed wrong xex to COD2.xex run it and see what happens smile.gif Will prob just crap out. Comparing the two files may hold some info.

dose this mean the x360 may have a small cut down .NET framework???

QUOTE
When a compiler produces MSIL, it also produces metadata. Metadata describes the types in your code, including the definition of each type, the signatures of each type's members, the members that your code references, and other data that the runtime uses at execution time.

We need a program to extract the meta data of say a small xex file! See whats goin on maybe?

this seems interesting

has anybody tried renaming default_signedwrong.xex to default.xex? - does the game run? or does it crash?

simple tests....

media checks and digital signatures are 2 entirely different things, theres only 1 signature, and if its wrong its wrong

maybe someone forgot to remove it (its happened before, weve found XDK tools on xbox games) or maybe the error was caught late in the mastering process and they couldnt remove it from the disc

Media flags are 'guarded' by the signature.  "wrong" could mean that it's simply not what was intended/wanted.  tongue.gif  happy.gif

the signature prevents alteration to any part of the xex, not just the media check, so by your logic this could be bad beta compile as well

but didnt soemone do a hex compare and found the files identical? that means its default_signedwrong.xex, not default_mediaflaggedwrong.xex

if and when we get a hack capable of running homebrew this file will behave exactly like the original xex
