I've seen this list around a long time ago, but since it's a subject at hand now, does someone have any idea what the .xexp1 files are? They all have their timestamps 30 min ahead of the .xex files and are generally exactly similar sized or considerably smaller.

I'd suggest a backup of the previous Dashboard's files.  It's known that when updating the X360 Dashboard over XBL, the previous Dashboard is backed up.  (When you view X360 system info you see D:nn.nn.1234 (BK: 1.0.1888) - "BK" = backed up?).

Worrying as to why it took 30 minutes to install the Dashupgrade at the Kiosk blink.gif.
