Divx Solution 100% Working
« on: January 03, 2006, 12:21:00 PM »

Now I'm really getting sick and tired of all the reposts lately. What's up with using the search function? The ratio was bad already, but ever since x360 was released we're getting one real piece of news and then nine threads with the same info.

This was all explained two weeks ago in another thread. It's still a working solution, but ridiculously hard. $400 for x360, $1400 for the PC, additional $100 for the MCE, installing and setting up and on top of it all you have to hack yourself silly to get mpeg4 running, which runs these days even on every mobile phone. I'd call that a raw deal. Using a 300W PC and 160W x360 for viewing a Divx that could've been viewed much easier with most $50 DVD players these days is something I cannot understand.

I'm sorry if I come across a bit agitated, but this is the twentieth repost I've read today plus I really hate every mention of the deliberately handicapped media features in x360. dry.gif

It is a working solution though, although difficult, and wether or not you think it is environmentally friendly is irrelevant.

Encoding divx manualy before playing it isnt a good enough "solution".

If it were able to encode xvid to ask in realtime while displaying it on the 360 it would have been abit better. But until there is a way to install xvid codec on the 360, we wont be able to play realtime par quality xvid on it. Sorry

Personnaly streaming divx files to my xbox 360 is a excellent option better than buying others things like a cheap 50$ dvd player, of course i can use my "OLD" xbox to play divx but i would like to do the same thing but with my xbox 360. I dont test your trick jester.gif s but i assume it'S works, Great job dude!

unspoiledpuma: You CANT stream xvid files yet. He is talking about converting his movies from xvid to .asx, and then streaming them. Its not a solution for playing xvid on the 360. Man you can easely convert xvid to a dvdr or a mpg file, then stream them over network, but the 360 is not playing or streaming the xvid file in any way. Hopefully someone will find out how to do this soon smile.gif

When money is involved it isn't actually free. I mean sweet job! you have successfully mapped a pyramid scheme. I just giving you some advice so you don't sound stupid in the real world.

haha...what I said is known as sarcasm, which is meant to criticize, not teach.  Which also means I wasn't serious, but then again, I guess I overestimate some people's intelligence...
