Screenshots For Emus? I Have A Question.
« on: April 06, 2004, 05:22:00 PM »

Is there a some place you can get zipped packs of screenshots for different systems for use in emulators?  SNES specifically.  Either a website or maybe someone who has there?  Any help would be greatly appreciated because I'm coming up blank using search engines.

That would be cool, but I don't think there is mainly because SNES and other systems roms can be named anything, and the file names would have to match with the pictures file names. MAME can do it because its rom files have specific names.

Sure you could do it.  The logical way would be to name the zips identical to the GoodXXX renamer tools.  I actually did find one web site with some SNES screenshot packs.  The URL is http://xoomer.virgilio.it/myspacee/temp/ and they have a lot of games covered.  The only problem is that it's based off an earlier GoodSNES release and isnt current with 2.01 so there are a lot of pics that aren't in there.  I know there have to be other sites and screenshot packs out there.  I was hoping someone would share their knowledge of where :).  Anyone?

i would like an open FTP server where people can upload there shots,
something like a database where they are registered, so that we have no double ones.
All names must follow the good/tosec convention and the format in that xport/lantus save their shots.
I wrote some simple bash scripts that convert them to xports style.

greets

there isnt anythin illegal? Is there?

I think that'd be a great idea.  A good start to that collection would be the snapshot packs on that website I listed in my second post on this thread.  They're already named in GoodSNES format.  More packs do exist somewhere.  I wish someone would come forward :D.  Otherwise, maybe someone could code a tool in which say Snes9X would load every rom individually in a directory and take a snapshot, rename it identical to the rom, and move it to a seperate specified directory.  There could be an added option to zip each screenshot individually.  Maybe an option to wait 10-15 seconds or so before taking a pic so you could get actual in game footage (assuming it has a demo that starts if you dont press anything).  I have zero coding knowledge, so I dont know how tough it'd be.  But it'd sure be a neat tool!  Does anyone else have any existing screenshot packs or URLs that provide them?

Or the emu could speed up the game to 15x and it would go much quicker. Interesting idea.

its easier to read the Boxart tread and go to the linked page, there you find everything you need, just download the rar files and use hte bashscript inside the folder.
You can change the last line, correspondending to if its nd shot or art pic.
