Disassembler For This Ibm Cpu ?
« on: November 23, 2005, 09:27:00 PM »

Here you can download the emulator XEX file:
http://assets.xbox.com/en-us/backwardcompa...ity/default.zip

I'd like to disassemble some instructions from this file, but I don't know which software to use. Does anyone know of some software to use ? Something that at least can translate bytes to opcodes for this type of CPU would be nice (some HIEW-like software for example).

The update executable (default.xex) is encrypted. You won't be able to disassemble it unless you can decrypt it. Look at it with a hex editor and you will see what I mean.

The update executable (default.xex) is encrypted.

Or compressed.

The guys over at Free60 believe it to be a modified .CAB archive, much like the .XCP.

Tried to dissasemble it with IDA, came up as binary. I looked at it with a hex editor, it's definitely encrypted. I don't know about compressed though.

And how would you decrypt it ? There's nothing known yet about the encryption technique.
