wishi - yeah, and xport could possibly have something with a ton of new features, too.  Perhaps a former sega employee has made an abso-smurfly perfect genesis/32x/segacd emulator for xbox that we'll never see, too.  The only thing that matters is what the general public can use right now.  I can only compare the most recent public version of NeoGenesis to the most recent public version of Xenesis.  Maybe he's made some changes that would invalidate some of what I've said and maybe he hasn't.  as of right now, however, what I've said is still accurate for the rest of the world.

The point I was making (quite blatantly I thought) is that Carch's original statement was based upon the fact his comparisons were to a different version than the one you are referring to.

So him saying several things may in fact be true. And the only thing that matters is what the general public can use now? Not if Carch is referring to his newer version and you are referring to his "several things" statement.

Carcharius - not to be argumentative, but it looks like the "several things" has turned out to be one thing - which is the fast forwarding option.  (However, NeoGenesis allows you to control how fast it goes - because sometimes you want it to go as fast as possible and other times you just want the gameplay speeded up a bit but you want to see/control what you're doing too.)  One cannot search for cheat codes using Xenesis, there are no HD modes in Xenesis, and there are still many more graphics filters available for NeoGenesis than there are for Xenesis.  So basically my entire list, with the exception of one thing, is correct.

I'm not saying people shouldn't like Xenesis or that they shouldn't prefer it over NeoGenesis.  I just wanted to better understand why someone would want to use Xenesis instead of NeoGenesis.  I still just don't see it.

You've really got to give it a fucking rest.

lantus - your GUI will be like mine.  Your ideas will be like mine.  You will become part of the whole.  Resistance is futile, earthling.

kimota2004 - I'm not exactly sure what you feel is a problem, but you can change the screen size/position to be absolutely anything you want.

As for the last couple pages of this thead - while this is a lively discussion and not necessarily inappropriate, I'd just like to say one thing.  Arguing makes baby jesus cry.

Some people like creamy peanut butter and some like chunky.  If anyone wants to discuss the issue more, then please start a new thread.  I look back on these threads to look for bug reports whenever I have time to make updates.  My eyes will have a tendency to glaze over if there's too much noise and I might miss something. smile.gif

Nostalgic: Because Carch forgot which he had last released?

Anyhow, as XPort says, eye glazing ain't good, I'll crawl back into dev/homebrew forums.

XPort - I'm sorry that your thread got hijacked. As I said before I was trying to head things off before it degenerated. Seems I didn't do too good a job!

Nostalgic - as I said, and as Wishi picked up on, I did get a little confused which version I was talking about. Up until that point I hadn't changed the version number on my development builds. What can I say? It's been a tough week!

I'm gonna drop out of this thread now - if anyone wants to talk more about the features of Xenesis or report any bugs/suggestions, please start a new thread or contact me directly.

Lets leave this thread for it's original purpose and get back to drinking beer and playing some games!

Exactly.

dux, I (or anyone for that matter) could make NeoGenesis look 95% like Xenesis using the skinning features I made available in all my projects.  Change the font, the font size, text boundaries, screenshot position/size, put on a different background image and voila - they'll look almost completely identical.  And it can all be done within the emulator itself - no need to hand-edit INI files.  Some people like bigger text, some like smaller.  Some like bigger screenshots, some like smaller.  However you would want NeoGenesis to look, however, is completely under your control.  The options are all there and that's why I put them there - so that you can make it look just the way you want.

XPort, I'm actually going to take it upon myself to do that. I'll post my results here if they turn out worthy (in the Emulators section, not this thread, it's been bastardized by me enough).

By the way since you're reading this and all, do you think you could add Genesis Collective support in the future? (I'm sure its more of a 'do I want to' than 'can I' issue). Cause that would be totally nifty.

Lastly, I (and everyone else who emulates on the xbox) love you and your work, my friends and enemies alike know me as an asshole;  my blunt style of criticism should only be taken with a grain of salt.

I've thought about it (more about making a generalized system for making it easy to load in screenshots for any platform).  I've kind of been taking a break though.....partially because there's not much else out there that interests me and partially because my motivation was fading.  I did this most recent update because my curiosity was piqued when I read the article on slashdot.

Basically, it may or may not happen - don't know.  I hear the requests, though.

Woah I didnt mean to stir up any shit. I just like xports GUI because I can realy trick them out, and make them look super pro. When ever I get around to it I will submit it to a skin site but its like beta0.4353453 =)! I would rather hold off, Im hoping it can be the skin used for a xport front end if he ever makes one, I have been slowly working on this thing for over 6 months. Ive always had a thing for a nice uniform GUI, and I have my own generic skin that I use for all of xports emulators. Ive grown used to them. Am I saying I want xport to port over another SNES emu? nah I could care less honestly lantus did a fine job and I dont mind using it at all, but if I was a coder and I had my own way it would be uniform, uniform uniform uniform. I just have a thing with uniform, maybe its a disorder, ya wouldnt know it from looking at my house though.

Anyway sorry to stir up shit, i broke up with my bitch, and instead of being on the rebound I am playing defense, So i might be around the scene a little more now who knows. Adios.

I should do some skins too, I gotta give back to the community with my PhotoShop skills, and all I've done so far are a few EvoX skins (which I don't even use any more).
